    Ancheer first impressions

Cheap Ebikes do lot higher mileage and average speed than the unassisted versions. Those higher speeds put lot more stress on cheap suspension and wheels so expect more problems.

    Bike transport

I've made up an alarm system for my detachable light panel. When panel is fitted, light cable is run through bikes then plugged into socket. Alarm is enabled, if cable is cut or unplugged horn goes off.

    Clever new Rohloff e-shifting

How much do think this motor/gearbox combination will cost when fails out of warranty. Currently Bosch motors are about £600-700 for exchange motor. With separate IGN you can transfer it to another bike.

    Should lights be mandtory

Most drivers are looking for cars not cyclists. High viz and lights mean they are more likely to see you at a glance.

    Should lights be mandtory

If street lights are on your bike or car lights should be on.

    Should lights be mandtory

Compulsory helmets yes, but all other safety gear should be optional. In saying that if you have built lights, there is no harm in leaving them on during day.

    Bike for comfort

If you want comfort and low running cost, go for hardtail with big tyres (run at min air pressure you have motor, rolling resistance isn't an issue). Quality suspension seatpost eg suntour NCX, thudbuster, rack with panniers you need to lose that backpack. As for middrive or hubdrive debate a...

Changing the front chainring on Bosch CX drive

Correct tool for CX and all Gen2 drives that use small chainring. CX and Performance haven't changed in 2018. Bosch replaced Gen2 Activeline with new 2018 Gen3 direct drive Active & Active Plus ,which have large(normal size) chainrings.

If you hate ebikers and e bikes don't look at this .

Its horses for courses. Any body using eroad bike is going be cruising well above 25km/h level. The assist just means they don't fall below 25km/h on slight inclines and headwinds, or dread hills. If I was into road riding I can see the appeal. After try my wife step though I can see appeal of...

    Bosch ebike motor reliability

I don't think any of other middrive motors ie Shimano Yamaha Brose are any different for out of warranty support. Exchange faulty motor for refurbished motor for big $$. None of their bearings especially on MTBs will last for ever. Being able to replace bearing yourself is big plus.

Bosch active line plus or performance cx for tuning

You will hardly notice extra noise of CX drive over wind noise when doing 35-45km/h. Extra pedal resistance only matters if riding unassisted which you won't be, especially if trying to do more than 30km/h. For tour and leisure riding upto 25km/h cutoff, Plus would be nicer motor. There are...
