Thanks for the links to the covers @guerney So far my only water related concern is leaving them unzipped in a rainstorm and coming back to liters of water contained in the bags, no drain hole as standard.. , Initial inspection indicates a nice waxy sheen to the fabric, but time will reveal the...

    £1.33 pannier bags from aliexpress..

After my first posts and pics of my bike some wise members advised me to consider pannier carriers for the rear rather than the higher centre of gravity black plastic box currently fitted. So when i was presented with a special offer from an aliexpress seller I had to bite, and they finally...

Safe cycle routes. Are there any really?

I have the same issue daily with folk wandering all over the shared cycle path 3 or 4 abreast often with kids too and how shocked they look when i tinkle my lil bell at em.. I read on one of the US EV forums of a chap who fitted a rather loud clown car sounding horn, which apparently encourages...

Ha, I saw silver... I will be scrapping some strands tomorrow for sure.. Glad to be proven daft.. Cheers.. Ive been scanning the ads for the cables i have on slow boat order and other similar cable ad pages and no mention of wire core materials then raised my suspicions and confusion...

    Steel/Aluminium core wires the norm?

On dismantling a non working ebike, i noticed the cores within the power wires in the julet? terminated 9pin socket for connection to the hub motor were Steel? then on looking closer at the no-name controller installed its power wires were a telltale red of aluminium, My kit installed on my...

    Hi just joined

re gears slipping, dont try to tweak the tuning screws on the gears unless the chain is coming off your freewheel or you cant reach some gears. . Just adjust the gear cable tension via the screw barrel where the cable joins the gear changer or at the shifter end, just a turn or so, and try it...

Changing from TMM Torque Sensor to Cadence sensor - how hard is it please?

Just an idea... But all the sensors on my ebike kit are hall effect sensors that respond to magnets.. on that basis alone i think its worth a punt your dodgy sensor is also a hall effect sensor, Worth checking out at least, unless someone in the actual know comes along and shoots me down.. ;)...

    Help! Electric bicycle motor problem.

Its unclear how your set up testing? photos provide a lot of info You need to clamp the shaft or axle in place either in the bike frame, or held in a vice or similar stationary position if not installed in a bike.. If in place in a frame its not clamped tight enough you may need to add spacers...

    Controller recommendations

Funny you should ask about ridding without a headset.. asked a similar Q myself and you kinda can.. See @saneagle 's post Here. As for a specific recommendation, I cant help there but have browsed over way too many cheaper no-name controllers in search for the elusive KT controller and...

    New controller set up

Does the OP NEED a New Controller?? The 'headset' in the first pic looks to be a KT-LED-890, and if so and the OP's controller is a KT brand, then in order to access the configurable options of the controller you will want to plug in one of the 3 button lcd headset options...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

@sjpt thanks for the clarity, i only commented casually not intending to profess any expertise or special insight into the law.. I recently watched the utube linked somewhere in here iirc from 'Blackbelt Barrister' on cyclists and speeding.. That is the sum total of my pre comment in depth...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

Well the chap running one of the friendliest bike shops i have visited is ridding about with a 1500w hub motor in his front wheel. and it looks as big as its rated.. His opinion is that as there are few youngsters taking the p^ss and causing trouble for the local plod so 'we' are not on their...

Can any ebike controller be configured to run headless.

Thanks @saneagle for the power wire tip, no doubt i will let some magic smoke escape as i explore this.. But it sure sounds like the simple solution i was hoping for. My vast hands on experience with ebikes totals a whole 3 of em ;) 2 of which arrived to me with damaged headsets hence my bias...

Can any ebike controller be configured to run headless.

Controller headsets appear to be the weak link in many setups suffering damage from knocks and scrapes and dying as soon as any rain seeps inside. So are they really necessary all the time? How do the controller and headset work together, is the headset a dumb terminal when configuring the...
