my not at all sporty boneshaker of a donor bike had zero bottle holders so i had to add them all :) without securing the riv-nuts a big cable=tie came in handy, when the lever tool arrived it took seconds to fix what i had spent hours bending allen keys attempting.. when hardware shopping i...

Help! New to ebikes need someguidance on upgrades

in order to get more speed you need to 1)remove the limit set, and 2 provide more power to the motor. since power in watts is derived from voltage and amps supplied increasing either will increase power output. so to overcome the speed limit an alternative more configurable controller and...

    DIY rivnut fitting kit

when you have a m5 hex headed machine screw perhaps, all mine are 3mm hex key screws, neither me or a manual or an electric impact driver could exert the required torque, I even started looking at the car and motorbike looking for a donor for a hex headed screw.. ended up embellishing the...

Thanks for the tip on the bigger motor and controller/battery hookup.. And as for the easy way to test a motor ... ;) well i had not yet opened a motor so it had to get done sooner or later, and i really wanted to fight with that one bloody screw that rounded off its cross head indenture for...

Thanks @lenny, No where close to testing the unknown battery beyond the press of its self test button. However thanks for reminding me to check it out thoroughly first, any testing with a battery i may mention will be carried out with my known good fuse protected battery Cheers, this is my...

    yesterday i had 1 ebike now i have 4!

Yellow Bike motor RIP, i think at least. opening up and inspecting the controller housing was a pita due to it being held together with a messy wrap of gaffer tape. Although i had 'cracked' the case to drain and air, moisture was still present, so i stood it in the sun while i brewed a cuppa...

    yesterday i had 1 ebike now i have 4!

Thank you, just the confirmation i needed to stop a catastrophic experiment.. Google suggests that a 48v 250w direct drive hub motor could be similar in size to the hub motor pictured with the red/orange bike 6-7" diameter? while the 28a power rating of its matched controller does indicate a...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

Only thing i am sure of is that as soon as i decide to push my chances and slap a bigger motor in/on a bike and hop on Plod will start to take a keen interest.. and a toddler will wander under my front wheel while a local yt influencer videos it..

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

While it lacks the immediate response of real throttle control, 'virtual full throttle' can be obtained via setting pedal assist to max, Ghost pedaling, and rear brake lever micro control over motor on/off. Probably even worse for battery consumption than a standard throttle and you dont have...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

Pretty much the same this end, However when inquiring about insurance I actually made a couple of phone calls I wanted to confirm my kit built ebike was covered and i wasnt gonna pay premiums only to not get a payout when the bike gets nicked.. Both agents i spoke to were explicitly clear that...

    Waterproofing hub motors?

Amazon dropped the ball, but the grease arrived this morning so i attempted to pack as much as i could around the flex feeding into the wheel hub using a small a small flat head screwdriver as a spatula. I then as suggested thread-locked the screws on the disk brake fitting too. Cheers.
