Hi all,

I'm new to the ebike scene.

I've just taken delivery of the Estarli E20 Pro. Bike seems good quality, and worth the money. It is pedal assist.

I'm looking to see if the bike can be de-restricted, to give a bit more 'oomph'

Has anyone done this, or have an idea how this can be achieved?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum sbj72!

AFAICS the Estarli E20 is largely the same as the Mycle Compact. That uses a KTLCD7 controller and display. The LCD7 manual is here. It tells you how to access the set-up menu and change the default maximum speed (see "General Project Setting ").

Sometimes though the bike maker may have had that menu disabled to stop you changing those parameters. Try it and see, and let us know.

Welcome to Pedelec.
Are you sure that you want to exceed the legal limit? It could get you immediately "noted", and then expensive, and get your bike taken away from you in an extreme case...
On those small wheels? I hope that you have also invested in full leathers and a motorcycle crash helmet! Though it might make you open to ridicule as well, but far safer!
I have exceeded the legal limit on 28" wheels, with good tyres correctly inflated, as I wanted to check just how fast my dog could run (on a downhill), and I chickened out at about 25MPH.....She could run much faster than that was all I found out!!!!
But best wishes for your future health and safety.

i have also just purchased a Estarli E20, I tried the instructions for the KT-LCD7 and the function for the adjustment for the max speed wouldn't work. As you mentioned the bike maker may have disabled this menu, my next question is do you know how to re-enable this menu?

thanks in advance

Did anyone get anywhere to derestrict the estarli e20? The settings menu is definitely disabled. Although the controller appears to be an LCD7 as others have stated it is specific to Estarli. I bought a new controller and found I could access the menu settings but it simply doesn't work with the rest of the bike. It doesn't need a lot of extra oomph...just a bit extra would be nice. Has anyone succeeded?

You could change both controller and display to equivalent KT ones with standard programming... but I fear it'd be a futile exercise: The motor will already be wound to spin at a high RPM in the 20" wheel so won't be able to give much more than a couple of MPH gain. And because your battery is the seat-post, changing that to a higher voltage isn't practical either.

My own 20" Fiido D11 folder with 36v seat-post battery and Xiongda YTW-06 motor when unlocked still only gives 17/18 MPH. If you can say which motor Estarli are using, others here should be able to calculate what the maximum on-road speed for that motor/winding at 36-volts in a 20" wheel is likely to be.

If it doesn't work, you might have some incorrect settings. What do you mean by "doesn't work".

Very useful info. Thanks

The new controllers did nothing at all with the bike so the motor did.not engage at all
what controller do you have? what is it replacing? clear pics of the labels and or product links will help confirm compatibility. what if anything did the headset display when powered on? did you set the wheel size ok?

Hi Everyone, I am new here and I now have an Estarli e20.8 Play Pro. The controller is an M200C and I entered the settings mode the same way as you would the LCD7 controller (Hold the up and down arrows). In this menu, you can change the maximum speed, which I did but it is still limited to 15.5. If anyone has managed to do it, is there another setting I have to change?

There are several parameters that affect the speed and the speed displayed. KT controllers get the speed for the speed limiter from the commutation pulses. You could try adjusting P1 to see if it has any effect. If not, get yourself a non-limited KT LCD. They all work, so get any one you want except LCD1, then hope that the limiting isn't in the controller.

If you're anywhere near Telford, you can borrow one to see if it works.
