    bafang suddenly cut out today

On mine the display will time out if it doesn’t see a wheel speed signal after 5 minutes. The time out is adjustable on the display. I use 2 magnets for the speed sensor to increase the magnetic field.

It will be a bit of work to convert your motor so it can be used with a standard external controller. The motor needs to be completely rewired and I think it uses optical sensors instead of hall sensors, so if you do decide to convert it you may be better off running it sensorless. And a...

Bafang kit connector replacement wiring question.

I use these and solder them, then put a couple of layers of heatshrink over them. I don’t like those cheap crimp butt connectors. I have seen many of them burned. https://www.toolstation.com/copper-tube-butt-connectors/p34260

    Puch eMaxi Build

Yes it does need something to take away the blandness, but I haven’t made up my mind about what decals or wrap to get yet.

    Puch eMaxi Build

I built a fibreglass race fairing to cover the controller box and to hide the wiring. I hade to make it in 8 separate parts and glassed them all together. Followed by a bit of body filler at the joints and a couple of spray cans of the same paint that I used for the frame, flatted and polished...

Celcapz - no spot weld battery kits

I looked at them last year but decided against using them. They are probably ok for building a static battery, but not for an Ebike. They have a history of cracking and make the overall size of the pack quite a lot bigger. They aren’t that expensive if you are building a 1 off pack if you...

    Help! Sabvoton 9680 controller wiring

Sabvoton wiring varies depending upon which supplier you bought it from and so does the firmware.

    Bafang brake sensor issue

Yep that’s why you shouldn’t mix and match red and yellow brake connectors. The OP just needs to be careful he doesn’t do something daft like that trying to get his brake light to work and the motor to cut off using the same switches. I use a relay so the motor cut off is isolated from the...

    Bafang brake sensor issue

A fella over on ES shorted pin 6 to pin 8 on the brake cable and blew the voltage regulator in his controller. He had brake sensors with 2 pin red plugs and connected them to the yellow brake sockets, thinking it would be ok and boom went the regulator.

    Bafang brake sensor issue

Here is the wiring diagram for the BBSHD. You need to check to make sure your BBS01 is the same. Be careful not to short circuit the 5 volt supply by connecting it to 0 volts through the brake switch otherwise you will blow the voltage regulator in the controller. And that will result in a...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

I agree. It even has twin front discs although the right side doesn’t have a caliper fitted. So it’s definitely been built for high power. Could even have a Sabvoton 72200 controller on it, but I can’t tell if it’s the bigger one from the photo because they look the same, but the 72200 is a bit...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

That’s looks like an NB Power version of a QS 205 motor and an MQcon Sabvoton controller. It is more like 11kW if it is using a 72 volt battery and a 72150 controller. Speed and wattage is about right for an unloaded wheel of that size. I have a similar Risun Motor version on a 19” wheel...
