    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

They should have written: “The B-52 & B-52L packs with the Samsung 50e cells are fantastic for those wanting to go for a day out on the bike and cover long distances really slowly”. You have a choice, either run at 250 watts all day, in which case you don’t need a cyc x1, or run it at 1500 to...

Throttle plus PAS shorted = error 10

The 5 volt regulator is inside the controller, not in the motor. And you don’t know if it’s damaged yet until you get your multimeter so you can check voltages on the pins. The circuit board that you see in the motor is for the hall sensors. They get their 5 volt supply from the controller...

    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

I was just thinking along similar lines. The cyc x1 is an absolute power house. Maybe better off upgrading to a BBSHD and be done with it. Cheaper, safer and more reliable. And the cyc pro gen 3 is even more ridiculous at 5kW.

And to make matters even more complicated for you the X1 can use a 72v battery. It has a BAC855 controller which is a monster.

    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

I like the bit in the description where it says “ This battery is physically the smallest we do yet still have enough power for the BBSHD and CYC Stealth motors”.

    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

I noticed the cyc x1 is rated at 2Kw, so even that battery won’t unleash its full potential. The problem is weight and size limitations on your bike for an even bigger battery. Also it will put even more strain on your gear set at 2Kw. I get some nasty crunches when I get it wrong at 1500 watts.

    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

Yes that’s more like what you need. I use a backpack battery because I don’t have enough room to mount it on the bike easily and I want to keep the weight off the frame.

    Battery recommendation for Cyc motor

You need to choose your battery depending upon how much range you are looking for and your riding style. If you intend to let the motor do all of the work for you at 1500 watts then you will be pumping 30 amps out of the battery, so a 10ah battery will give you 20 minutes of continuous riding...

Throttle plus PAS shorted = error 10

Here is an example of a battery voltage chart. A 36 volt battery will be at 42 volts when it is fully charged, so it’s nothing to worry about. Post a photo of your controller showing the plugs and sockets that you have connected and someone may be able to advise you of what testing you need to...

Throttle plus PAS shorted = error 10

The 5 volt regulator is inside the controller. It is unlikely you have damaged the motor by connecting the pas and throttle wires together. If you have a multimeter you can check the voltages on the pas and throttle connectors as Nealth suggested. You do have to be careful about cross...

Can anyone suggest hub conversion kit options for a Dahon Helios P8 with 74mm front axle and 130mm rear?

Vinegar baths may take a day or two to work properly. Half an hour soaking isn’t long enough for the acetic acid to eat the rust. You could try something like this if you are impatient and want to speed up the process...

Throttle plus PAS shorted = error 10

PAS inputs 5 volt pulses into the controller created by a set of magnets rotating around a magnetic sensor when you pedal. The faster you pedal the higher the frequency of the pulses. Throttle inputs 0 to 3.6 volts dc, created by twisting the throttle. The more you twist the higher the dc...

And I could have been mistaken about the thin wires being for the hall sensors. They could be wiring for the display. The more I see of these manufactured e-bikes, the more I’m convinced that a kit is the better option. They are much easier and cheaper to maintain when things go wrong if you...

I think I understand what we are looking at now. That connector must go to the battery not the motor and the thick Yellow and Green wires are battery supply and the thick Blue wire is unused. Sorry for misleading you.

I’m out of ideas now that you have shown the pins on the connector. There are indeed only pins for the yellow and green phases and I have no idea where the blue phase wire is supposed to go. It needs someone who has worked on this model to take it from here.

Can you take another photo of the connector block from the pin side? And also the mating connector on the bike showing the wiring if you can get to it. There must be another big blue wire somewhere. I can’t see too clearly, but on you last photo it looks like the blue wire has come away from a...
