    Why Ride Rad?

The specification sheet that I linked to is for a motor with one winding suitable for a 26/700C/28 wheel. You can tell that because the weight is 4.1 kg. If the specification sheet was for different windings then it would say so and the weight of the motors would be different due to the...

    Why Ride Rad?

Here is a good example of how Bafang rate their motors. Same motor on the specification sheet with 3 different power ratings depending upon how many volts are applied to it. So this particular example of a G060 is rated at 250 watts and 350 watts and 500 watts...

Those Rads are fitted with a G060 or if lucky a G062. According to the Bafang workbook the G062 is rated at 250w and 500w and 750w and 1000w.

I got bored watching it because he kept trying to justify the eggrider is just to improve the hill climbing ability. When everyone knows it turns a 250w ebike into a 750 watt e-bike.

Grin simulator says 26 mph top speed with this upgrade. The eggrider just overrides the locked controller settings so it can deliver its full 19 amps. And knocking on 1000 watts. https://ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html?batt=B4819_A&frame=fat&hp=0&axis=mph&motor=MG60_500&wheel=26i

It’s only the Radrunner 2 that is single speed. All of the other Rads have 7 speed Gears. Americans don’t like peddling , so they wouldn’t know what to do with the gears.

I have read that it can be run at 1000 watts without cooling. But I have also seen plenty of YouTube videos with burned up phase wiring.

    Why Ride Rad?

My controller is just mounted onto a 4mm aluminium plate bolted to the frame. I suspect the standard Rad battery would be overwhelmed by a 35 amp controller.

    Why Ride Rad?

Well it won’t show motor temperature because the G060 isn’t fitted with a temperature sensor. I fitted an LM35 sensor to my Bafang motor and removed the wheel speed sensor, so I could use the white wire for measuring temperature.

Here you go. It’s expensive though, but saves having to butcher the wiring. https://biggamebikes.com/product/35-amp-controller-upgrade-and-display-for-rad-power-bikes/

    Why Ride Rad?

I’m running a Bafang G020 at 35 Amps and 52 volts (on private property with the owner’s permission). These Bafang motors can take a lot of power. But I did have to oil cool the G020. I think the G060 can be run at that level without oil cooling.

    Why Ride Rad?

35 Amp KT controller is a popular upgrade for the RAD and these controllers can be purchased with all of the correct connectors so it’s plug and play. Some people also go to ridiculous extremes by water cooling the G060 and running it at well over 5kW.

Rad aren’t a fly by night company. They have a huge following in the US, but not so popular in Europe it seems. Here is the Rad owners forum https://www.radowners.com/

They may be illegal, but they were sold all over Europe as being compliant until the end of 2023 when Rad decided to pull out of the European market.
