advice on BBSHD and alternatives to build a touring/hybrid bike

Planetx London Road. Nice and lightweight frame, they also do this as a flat bar version but not listed it at the moment. https://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/bikes/road-bikes/london-road or for a more upright riding style the Cannondale Quick CX although has front sus so is a bit heavier...

    Best range build...

When your daughter is 14 maybe look at a small motor like the Xiongda YTW-06. It's very small and light at about 1.5kg and has plenty of power for it's size and ask Jimmy at Insat to build you a 36v 10s2p 6ah+ battery at about another 1.5kg should make a good lightweight build..

    Yosepower hub kits.

P1=Motor gear reduction ratio X number of magnets in the motor If your motor runs ok then leave as is but this setting can also affect the speed readout so check your LCD speed reading against a gps app and again, if the speeds are the same then leave setting as is.

    Yosepower hub kits.

You would need to check the number of spokes in your front rim match the motor. Motors generally have 36 holes.

My eBike build (very, very pic heavy)

If you go for a GSM motor, mounting/hiding the controller is easy, it just gives you a bit more work to do though. I guess with the controller being external, you can run a bit more power through it and not worry so much about it overheating.

Battery charging for the occasional rider

My favorite programmable BMS is my Neptune15. You can set the charge/balance and discharge to whatever you want within range. It also tells you over bluetooth in real time everything you would ever need to know about what is going on with your cells but as Nealh says programmable BMS are not...

    PAS Controller Power Levels

He has a 460wh battery 36v, if I make up some 10s lipo's to match, what amp's do I need to make up? also nowhere states his max current rating.

    PAS Controller Power Levels

Thats interesting because come to think of it, the 15a controller is actually a 8a controller capable of 15a max and the 20a controller is actually a 10a controller capable of 20a max so on both controllers PAS4 is actually 100% of the nominal rating and PAS 5 is 200% of nominal.

    PAS Controller Power Levels

I was interested to find out what power difference the PAS levels of a KT controller gave, since my mates expensive bike has eco(30%) trail(50%) and turbo(100%) and I wanted to compare. So connected up my battery with the speedict BMS which has built in live WATT meter readout to work it out. I...

    KT-LCD1 to KT-LCD3

It would be interesting to find out whether the only PAS level you get when you've tripped out the LCD matches the level which was previously set in the LCD3 parameter C3, then reconect the LCD3,change parameter C3 and trip out the LCD again to see if the PAS power changes with it

    Carrera Subway 2 Conversion

It's an 18" frame. I used the rear rack as I wanted to hide the batteries and was getting into using rc lipo's which were a smaller option at the time.

    KT-LCD1 to KT-LCD3

    More Bafang BBSO2 problems

I'm not 100% lipo's, I have several to use up from when they've been on sale. I am still planning a spotwelded battery project in the near future - I want to build a drinks bottle battery so will be looking for help on that when that time comes.

    Sparks!

This is the inrush of current charging up the capacitors in the controller and charger. Nothing to worry about but if you don't like it then you can change the connectors to XT90 Antispark connectors, but also power the charger on before connecting the battery...

    KT-LCD1 to KT-LCD3

How about try C11 to 1, maybe the controller is not LCD3 compatible? I have an old S12S I'm sure I had to set C11 to 1, I don't think watts are displayed. C11 value Meter Attribute 0-Meter uses LCD3 new version of communication protocol, it is compatible with LCD1 and LCD2. 1-Meter uses LCD1...
