    Tyre pressure -maximum

The bike got up the hill under its own power OK Citrus, but with me walking beside it, partially being pulled by the bike. As I came up I met a postman coming down the hill on a heavily laden unpowered post bike, and the only other way out of the valley was a similar hill on the other side!

    Throttle modification

I realised after posting that that was what you probably meant. It actually came from a twistgrip gearshift, about the only item worth salvaging before throwing a cheap bike away.

    Throttle modification

I got them from Wiggle about a year ago Harry, they're called Specialized Comfort Grips (Specialized being the brand). I've just checked and unfortunately wiggle don't stock them now, they may be available elsewhere though. They can't be fitted to a twistgrip so the mod is essential for a...

    Throttle modification

Flecc designed the modification because many people have found that full length throttles lead to aching wrists and are hard to hold steady. I did a similar modification when I fitted my bike with oval section ergonomic grips and found that by using my index finger and thumb I could get a...

Battery Help! - Saft Vh Module, Heinzmenn Rn Motor

Hi Greg, With Ni-Cad batteries such as your SAFT pack it is important to fully discharge them fairly often in order to maintain them in good condition, although as you have said this is often not convenient, especially for someone in your position. Running the motor off of the ground on no...

    Tyre pressure -maximum

Hello Jeanette, the maximum pressure is determined by the tyre rather than the bike it's fitted to and the usable pressure range will be marked on the tyre sidewall (Not always clearly!). On my own Sprint it is 40-65 psi while on my Torq the maximum is 85 psi. Higher pressure does in theory...

    Sensorless speed controllers

Andy, the beauty of using the full RC kit is that you can put all of your effort into operating the throttle while someone else rides the bike.:D Your quite probably correct about RC controller firmware not being suited to a low speed hub motor. I can't say for sure though as the last time I...

Dilemma with replacing my SLA batteries

Nice one Footie. Beeps posted earlier that that the battery requires a 10 hour first charge during which the charger will keep going off and on, sound like that's what's it's doing. 10 hours is going to take a bit of patience though!

Problem - Bionx, or maybe the bike

It may be that some of the new spokes have a resonant frequency similar to a frequency that normally occurs in the motor and are vibrating in sympathy. If that is the case a bit of rubber jammed in the spoke crosses should damp the vibration and stop the noise.

Dilemma with replacing my SLA batteries

The fuse could go after the switch if that means less work, and the + charger wire could connect on the battery side of the fuse if that's easier. It is though generally regarded as good practice to put the fuse as as close as possible to the battery as that gives maximum protection against...

Dilemma with replacing my SLA batteries

This should make it clear Footie. You only need one fuse, the charger should have its own built in protection.

Dilemma with replacing my SLA batteries

Give me 15 mins and I'll post a diagram Footie, I'm assuming there is only one positive wire from the new battery.

Dilemma with replacing my SLA batteries

Footie, the photo looks father confusing, what is the object to the right? The correct way is the two thick wires go to the controller with a fuse in the positive wire, and the thin wires go only to the charger, taking care in both cases to get negative and positive the correct way round. With...

    2 batteries in parallel.........

I'll be surprised if that cable between the charging sockets is actually does anything as the sockets are not connected directly to the cells, instead being the input to the batteries internal BMS charging circuit.

    First trip on the Agattu!

Your experience sounds very much like my return to cylcing after a very long break break. I found I quickly gained confidence, I'm sure that you will too and you'll soon be amazed at just how agile a bike can be. If your knees are coming up high it does sound like your saddle height is on the...

    Panasonic kit?

It should be possible to the power unit as a spare, but the cost would probably be almost as much as a complete Agattu. The problem is that it would not fit any normal frame, requiring something totally different in the area of what would be the bottom bracket, and sufficient space behind the...

    trailers or panniers

In the area in which I live there are numerous cycle paths with obstructions to prevent their use by motorcycles and other vehicles. Most of these obsructions take the form of width or legnth limits which would neccesitate unhitching and lifting a trailer, something the local authority seems not...
