    EZee Torq Cut Out

The specifications on the Ezee site state that the low voltage protection operates at 31.5V, more or less in line with that determined experimentally by Flecc. subject of course to tolerances.

Are there any 'non-shopping' styled bikes...?

Don't see many MTBs in the Tour-de-France, even on the mountain stages. Look to the pro's to see what makes an efficient bike.

The whole helmet issue is not one on which I have strong opinions either way, sometimes I wear one, sometimes i don't. However, that is not to say I don't have a view on the compulsion issue to which I am strongly opposed. I do however believe helmets can do more good than harm, a 40mm thick...

    36V Brushless controller on ebay

3 wires doesn't sound enough Andy, both my Sprint and Torq have 6 wires from the handlebars, I would guess their functions are :- common ground, 5V for throttle sensor, throttle sensor return, battery voltage for meter, brake cutout, pedelec mode switch. I don't know which colour does what...

    LED Headlamp

No offence was intended Jeremy. As is so often the case with purely written communication with its absence of body language there has been a something of a misinterpretation of my "tone". Of course Flecc is right, there is more than one way to crack an egg, neither of them being necessarily best.

    LED Headlamp

The "safe" circuit adds a transistor and 2 resistors to each chain which is far more complicated than simply feeding each chain through a resistor from a common voltage regulator, itself a tried and tested method. I don't quite see the logic behind the safe circuit as it would use less...

    LED Headlamp

I don't think any one light will be ideal for all conditions, on dark paths I'm constantly adjusting mine depending on how far ahead I need to see, I guess the ideal would be an easily adjustable spot light for the distance plus a flood light for the area immediately ahead.

    Torq li-ion batttery

Quote from the Ezee principal and designer Wai Won Ching "As part of my investigative report about my own bikes, it is still quite beyond my comprehension why there are cases of people having power cut-off on climbing or other instances aside from the possibility that their battery is already...

Are there any 'non-shopping' styled bikes...?

Many of the shopper style bikes are inspired by Dutch and other continental designs where function has always been more important than styling, and contemporary mtb styling is not ideally functional for road use. There are a number of broadly mtb styled bikes around such as the Ezee Torq and F...

    LED Headlamp

LEDs such as those Lumiled 1W types, also called luxeons (which is a trade name) tend to have a wide beam angle, typically 120 degrees so need additional optics to make them suitable for headlamp use, their relatively high current requirement also complicates the provision of an efficient power...

    LED Headlamp

Yes, but for multiple series chains you need multiple current sources. I used a single constant voltage source (28V) feeding several chains via resistors (100R), one of those chains being tapped to supply 10V for the 555, it's simple, it works and it was cheap as I had a bag full of LM317T's...
