My first Foldable electric bike
Hi I bought yet another type of electic bike to try out, this time a folder called Advance, almost identical as a lot of the folding bike on EBay at the moment.
It’s similar in style to the Honda step compo in A to B magazine A Buyers' Guide.
The 36 volt lead acid battery had enough juice to get me from the train station home around 3 miles mostly up a slight gradient.
I managed to get my hands on a supply of retuned 12volt 14amp batteries from a local shop, I took quit a number home over the next 3 weeks and tested them with my charger an (ultra duo plus 30) found 3 batteries with good amps still remaining .
The controller had a pot on it so that was the first thing to come off, with only 16” wheels it has a lot of toque and the weight (Heavy) is very close to the ground, it took a little time to get used to long handle bars and the very low center of gravity, each time I looked behind me I was going off wildly to the left or the right but got used to it after a couple of days, the 36volt motor is completely silent, with only the one gear which is very low the motor dose most of the work after around 6mph, , its got a top end of around 13mph on the flat seems plenty fast enough for this bike.
I use the bike manly for taking the dog for walks in the local park It’s a fun bike and a hit with the kids but dose draw a lot of attention, it brings a lot of friendly comment from the other people in an around the park, its great fun and the dog gets plenty of excise. she only 11 mouths old and gets to run around 10 miles every day, she’s the fittest dog in the park .
