    40 mile round trip commute - 20mph - help please :)

I don't know of any motor / battery combo at a reasonable price that would give you 20mph / 40 mile round trip. I think this is a bit of a holly grail. The only option is to carry 2 batteries. The best I've had is about 22/23mph over an hour and battery dead.

    Bosch main bearing

I bought my bike from e-bike shop only because they have a great selection of parts and back up service compared to others at the time. Clearly a business decision to look after their own customers, which is up to them i suppose.

Good point, last winter I fell off my e-bike at the same time as my friend who was on a standard bike going down hill and we are similar weight. We hit black ice and my bike ended up much worse off damage wise. The bike mechanic said he thought this was due to the e-bike being much heavier which...

Although carbon is nice, having had many carbon road and mtb's, it's not the be all and end all. Over the years it's been the "in material" to have a bike made from. Yes it's stiff, strong and light but with every advantage there's a disadvantage i.e. can be a bone shaker, can be too stiff and...

I totally agree and wish you the best. It appears your support is very good, which in my mind is just as important as the product itself.

OK, so we are actually talking about the frame and name on it, not being common as you say. All other parts are not unique. I'm more than happy for you to be a guinea pig, but from my experience this has back fired on me. Due to this, I personally never buy the latest of anything until it's...

My thoughts exactly. It would have to offer something special over say Haibike / Cube. I suppose brands have to start somewhere, but it's a big investment in brand / frame vs established larger brands.

Imho they look nice enough and spec ok, but just can't help think the battery looks like an after thought and price point still seems high for this brand in the market place. Still the more competition the better.

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

In the last 10 years riding around King wood and the North downs i've rescued a Kestral, found numerous lost dogs, helped find a runaway horse who's rider fell off, called ambulance to assist other mtbers and helped to round sheep up. On these occasions it really has made my day in being able...

Halfords bike range to be 30% e-bikes by 2020

Browsing in Halfords yesterday and noticed an e-bike stand with a range of e-bikes. The regional manager just so happened to be in and i was chatting to him. He said halfords were aiming to have about 30% of their bike range as e-bikes by 2020. This will include sit up and beg bikes, to full...

    Just added mud guards...

....of course i agree with EPJ for the exact same reasons. I spent more time trying to clean the mud that got clogged up during rides and often had to take them off when cleaning the bike. More trouble than they are worth.

Is this the next generation of Ebike?

I looked at the Gain d10, great looking bike and reasonable price. If your looking for a road bike that gives limited assistance, but just enough to help get you up a hill then great. Problem for me personally, is that I'm so used to having the Bosch cx performance motor with dongle fitted...

Turbo levo or Cube Reaction 500

I don't have either bike, but out of the two I would buy the Cube, due to simpl design and Bosch motor.

It's all compromise. I mainly use shimano xt pedals, had xtr but not very heavy duty with sids shoes carbon sole. Then i swop pedals and have some five shoes. Like you couldn't find jack of all trades.

speedbox2 to bosch performance cx with too many sockets

Pleased you got to sorted. Usually, there's decent instructions. I wrapped a little extra tape around my speedbox for insulation.

    winter tyres

Smart sams!. Marathons are great puncture wise, but little grip. Sam have much better grip, but slightly less puncture resistance. Good compromise though.

Agree, lovely. Beats me singing eye of the tiger to motivate myself ;)

    Winter cycling jackets

The problem with most of these things is it being breathable and flexible. I would suggest cheap and cheerful will be fine for a short casual ride, but anything else it will be uncomfortable to ride in and make you very sweaty. you pay your money and take your choice.
