    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

I think the trick is to try and read a mixture of sources. Raws stats from the UK gov: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ Adverse reaction stats (UK): https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-vaccine-adverse-reactions/coronavirus-vaccine-summary-of-yellow-card-reporting...

Radical new electric bike drive system requires no chains or belts, entirely ride-by-wire

A generator at the front and a motor at the back, just to avoid a chain. Hmm, that just doesn't feel efficient. Whether it's more or less efficient than a chain (which will beat a belt) isn't clear. Over to the electricians...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

I know of several people who've had it, including one after double vaccination. He was OK, just a little rough for a couple of days. A great result. I've also had an immediate member of the family die of it - they caught it in hospital in January at the peak. I promise you really don't want to...

well plod ceased my m8s ebike last night

Answering my own post (v poor etiquette, I know) it's #3, I reckon. The others are irrelevant in this particular accident, once you remove #3. It's a tough lesson being halfway to a motorcycle accident with minimal PPE. We've all done dumb things in our time - I hope he makes a speedy recovery!

well plod ceased my m8s ebike last night

And the moral of the story? Take your pick: 1. Illegal bikes are dangerous 2. Speed is dangerous 3. Don't drink & drive 4. Wearing a helmet is smart Place your bets on which is the 'correct' answer...

What else are we going to need?

Or, if you're feeling stylish, and want a bell that doesn't get bashed when you have to flip the bike over (to fix those punctures you're never going to get, right!), get an Oi! (Just be sure to measure and see if you have space)

What else are we going to need?

Agreed! My list: - multitool* - puncture repair kit (or spare inner tube) - mini pump - waterbottle & cage - and for when it all goes wrong, a phone Agreed on the waterproof front too. Or check the weather carefully, ahead of time. A basic £20 waterproof is great for an hour or two just to get...

    Recording Serial Numbers

Yes, definitely. As Muddy says, take a photo, and back it up in whatever method you use. If the worst happens, you can always dig it out again. And yes to the household stuff too, if it's up there at eBike value, i.e. thousands. Some valuable items won't be deemed uninsured unless you have them...

    Stand-alone insurance for e-bikes

Mine is £2.5k max per eBike, so it could be a problem with a very expensive bike. But who is crazy enough to pay more than £2.5k for a bike, eh. ;) Other high value items can be covered for higher amounts - jewelery, speakers, etc. you just have to declare their value upfront, and they load...

    Stand-alone insurance for e-bikes

That seems very expensive compared to the UK. My eBike insurance for two bikes (£1500 each) is ~£20 / yr, when added into house insurance as an extra.

Walking and biking prioritised in new Highway Code

It was sarcasm - admittedly the lowest form of wit. Apologies. More seriously, have pedestrian traffic lights with the intelligence to recognise both waiting people and vehicles, and prioritise the crossing lights on which has the greater flow. You could even count the number of people in the...

Walking and biking prioritised in new Highway Code

Ah ha! I've got it - put a button at driver window height so the drivers can press a button, and then, say every 2 minutes, the pedestrians get a red light, and they wait for the cars. Seems fair to me.

Samsung - are we just paying for the name?

I reckon of the 4,000+ reviews, a few tens (~50) are for batteries if you examine the feedback as a seller. The vast majority are for other items. However, on the plus side the label on that battery points to this site: https://eequalspower.co.uk/ which appears to be legit and matches the city...

How do i decide on a second hand value for my ebike.

There are Riese Muller bikes on there from the UK, so I'd still watch the prices there for a few weeks, if you have the time to wait, as another form of guidance. There's one (not) selling at £4750 for example, because of an unrealistic starting price.

How do i decide on a second hand value for my ebike.

An eBay listing will get you the market price, and as long you: - write the ad clearly and describe the bike accurately - have copious sharp images - set a realistic reverse price (or better still have no reserve at all) - run it for a reasonable time (7 days typically) - set it to finish when...

    Panniers on Cube touring bike

These look identical in design, right down to the reflector strips: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BikyBag-Waterproof-Classic-Pannier-Shopping/dp/B07QKDWLPC/ref=sr_1_6?dchild=1&keywords=beluko&qid=1626795834&s=sports&sr=1-6&th=1 It says Vecro is used for fastening to the rack/frame. From the...
