    Halfords Bike Service

Cycling UK holds Dr Bike sessions to fix your bike. However they've been stuffed by Covid for the past year, but I think they're aiming to get going again this year: https://www.cyclinguk.org/bigbikerevival...

Britain's First 'Dutch-Style' Roundabout Closed 10 Days After Opening When Car Ploughed Into Beacon

Don't let them fool you, it's just a fancy cockney haircut - a Barnet castle, but it's got bastardised* over the years. *hence the connection to Cummings.

    Ribble Bikes

Thanks. I wrote 'feels normal' not 'proper bike' - i.e. it acts & feels close to an unassisted bike, which might also include lifting it into the house, turning it over to fix punctures, not just cycling it. But I'd certainly agree a Ribble isn't for you. ;)

Why can't we have courtesy bikes?

Good idea. However, it means having spare bikes. There aren't any right now. In say 5 years time, when ebikes are more common, maybe the courtesy bike will be a little extra that retailers will use to get you to come to them. That would be sweet. The normal trick (well, for motorbikes) is to...

    Ribble Bikes

If you like to ride with no assistance for a significant proportion of your ride, then absolutely yes! If you want a bike that feels 'normal' then yes again. The Ribble is roughly the equivalent of my Orbea Gain, with both having an ebikemotion system, and about the same weight. The spec is...

    Bike Locks

    > Weight: 20.17kg Your motorbike lock weighs more then my eBike. ;) But as you correctly say, there's not a lot you can do even if you do track them down. Instead, go for a bright obvious lock, place it in a busy area, and you'll dissuade casual theft. As for professional theft - it's just...

Looking for a road/gravel eBike up to £3,000

I'm near Banbury, if that helps. Our Fazua is a small-middling size: 157 - 170 cm height. It's an urban model (HYB8.9e) rather than gravel, but it would give you an idea.

Looking for a road/gravel eBike up to £3,000

My mistake - apols Woosh. I read the website and saw the 'I'd like to reserve this bike' button, and assumed no stock. Definitely worth a check Terry.

Looking for a road/gravel eBike up to £3,000

Looks good, good value for the money, and Woosh seem to care - that's something you can't buy. Trouble is (like everywhere) I think they're out of stock, but defo worth asking the estimated delivery date.

    Where are you based, Terry?

Looking for a road/gravel eBike up to £3,000

We have a Boardman HYB 8.9e, Terry - it works well, and is enjoyable to use. It's urban, not gravel, but with exactly the same battery system. Only had it a year, but no problems so far. Gets my wife up the hills quicker than me with no assistance. Grr. So got an eBike myself. :p You might...

    Bike Locks

One that is a visual deterrent when compared to other bikes nearby, i.e. a big U-lock in my case (an old Kryptonite). If I was to buy another one I'd probably go for a Kryptonite New York - bright, and reasonable security for the price (£65-70). But as the answers below will no doubt say - no...

    a question about insurance

    > My home insurance only covers bikes up to £350. I can add my bike for an extra £20, although I'm slightly worried about this as they say there is nothing they can send me which has the wording of the insurance as it relates to bikes, so I'm in the dark about what the details are. Re--reading...

    a question about insurance

Post Office home insurance for the bike is another example of a cheap way to insure. And join Cycling UK for automatic personal cover & lawyer support. I've had reason to use it, and they served me well.

    Transporting E-bikes are a nightmare!

Light ebikes with removable batteries (Fazua-based for example) are no heavier/harder to load than the average bike. We put ours on the top or inside our estate car, depending on the day & number of bikes to be transported. Light ebikes with fixed batteries (Orbea, Ribble, Faro, etc) are...

"EatSleepRIDE" Free App for IOS and Android.

Reviews on both iOS & Android show 3.1 stars. Not forgetting it's not possible to give 0 stars, so that's really 2.1 / 4 stars. Roughly 50% of customers aren't impressed. If that was a bike shop it would go bust. I like the idea, and the developer bothers to answer reviews which is always a...

And in Germany - Andy-Mat's home. Re: motorbike locks & weight, you could try a Litelok: https://www.litelok.com/ And pick the weight you're prepared to suffer. From the blurb: Litelok Gold is the lightest, flexible Sold Secure Gold bike lock, and was awarded Best Bike Lock by Cycling Plus...

How do you rate Mark 2 e bikes?

https://www.mark2.co.uk/ ? Early bird price is fab. Reliability? Who knows - you're the guinea pig. Only one small problem: 'For delivery in November 2021' Your secondhand one must be a earlier model I guess.
