Lots of info on canbus, BUT its just the protocol same one used in cars . Bike manufacturers that use it employ a closed/private communication code. So while reading the canbus signals is documented all over the web and anyone with an evening and an arduino can have a go decoding the specific...

DIY with a comfortable bike equipped to your needs with GOOD brakes would be my best suggestion. If you detail the hills you need to conquer (length/gradient) some of the chaps in the know may suggest a hub drive instead saving cash both upfront and in chains etc and perhaps service costs too...

Advice to a newcomer on what bike to buy

There is a utube of the 5-star ceo necking a glass of starsan, and the idofors are used neat to paint skin around open surgery and to paint open wounds in some triage situations afaik.. (not a doctor..) Both are sanitisers NOT sterilisers, most (all?) bacteria are killed by starsan but yeast...

Just the same as with car insurance, if your vehicle is not in accordance with the regs mot, tax with cars,, any insurance is null and void. with ebikes they NEED to conform with EN19154 the 2 key points being a motor rated 250w or less and a cap on motor assistance at 15.5 mph or 25kmh.
