I’ve always been of the opinion that if one case is found, it’s been here for a while, has spread and is out of control. We never stood any chance of containing the SA variant. Just hope it doesn’t become the dominant strain

It’s not “ineffective”. Based on a very small sample, the AZ vaccine is showing signs of not stopping mild Covid symptoms developing when a person becomes infected with the SA variant. That means it is likely to stop moderate and severe symptoms developing. That’s not “ineffective”. If it did...
