    Broken v brake tension rod

Any old brake will do, it's only the return spring that you need. Hardly expensive.

    Thumb Throttle to Twist

Might be of interest but I have fitted a 6 speed twist changer on the left hand side of the handlebar. The numbers are upside down but I never notice. I guess that the human brain can read numbers upside down without a problem.

    Thumb Throttle to Twist

I have just replaced my thumb gear changer which was on the right hand side with a SRAM grip shifter which I put on the left hand side.

Very weird motor issue. (Only "kicks in" when the wheel is moved backwards)

Check the motor hall sensor wires. I had a similar mysterious fault with harsh running, turned out to be one Hall wire at the multi plug near the controller had snapped where it went into the tiny metal connector in the plug.

    Sqeaking brakes

I have finally decided to fit hydraulic disc brakes to my bike. Not as simple as I thought. Looking on ebay I see dozens of different Shimano sets, only designated by numbers and letters with no indication as to their merits etc. Further, on looking at the photographs, some seem to be post mount...

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

Well, I have just installed a grip shift and can report that for me it is much better. For the average UK cyclist, MAMILS and off roaders are the bane of our life. Unlike Europe, and Asia, UK cycling is sport dominated. The result is shops only selling , ridiculous saddles that would horrify an...

New ebike battery technology coming soon?

We have heard so many stories of 'Super batteries' that are 'Just around the corner' Even though it is the Mail and probably totally inaccurate, it seems to suggest that unlike Lithium cells, this wonder cannot be recharged and only costs £5,000 to replace 'A few times a year'

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

It never occurred to me to change the changer. I have a Shimano derailleur, does it have to a sram twist grip?

Are handlebar gear changers back to front

At present I am suffering from an aching thumb joint thanks to my Shimano 'thumb' gear changer. It seems to me that from an ergonomic point of view, the system where you have to push the lever away from you against the spring is all wrong. The reason is that except for your hand gripping the...

    First bicycle road accident tonight.

You did the right thing. Because bikes are comparatively cheap compared to cars, motorists do not accord us sufficient care. Had you been driving a car, the damages would have been far more expensive. It is imperative to bring home ( in their wallets ) the likely outcome of not affording enough...

    Halfords electric scooters.

Saw this today in Swansea. Timed him at 23 mph. Interesting thing is that it had a number late issued in Czech Republic.
