Rides illegal machine - kills pedestrian & blames her........

I recall watching a film about cycle couriers a while back 'Premium Rush' it was called. The hero whizzes about on a 'fixie' regularly stating "brakes will get you killed" he urges his similarly employed girlfriend to remove her brakes and after suffering an accident where she can't stop in time...

    Interesting holiday idea?

I live on the edge of the fens and believe me, the winds would soon make up for them lack of gradients!

    E bikes going forward

I received some marketing information for the Nissan Leaf this morning, to own one I need to find £5k deposit, £200/month for 2 years & a final payment of £12k if I want to keep it! Even if I manage that I live in a house with a garage in a separate block so would need to drape a 100m extension...

    E-Bikes for Children

I'm still wondering what an 'iced gem hairstyle' is?

What do you use your ebikes for?

I only really use mine for commuting, switch to the ordinary bike for leisure.

    lots of hate out there

Still not experienced any hating, I did have a fellow on a roadbike tucked behind me most of the way home last night getting a bit of a 'tow'. We had a chat at the lights and he admired the bike :)

    Intentional hit and run.

Fortunately its never happened to me but many years ago I was a witness to something similar. I was working away staying in an hotel near Fareham and went for a stroll in the early evening. The road was traffic calmed and a cyclist was going uphill (and so relatively slowly) a car driver behind...

1700 miles fairly trouble free then the puncture gremlins have a field day

I too have suffered a number of punctures in the last few weeks whereas I hadn't had any really since Christmas. I've been told that its important to run tyres at the correct marked pressure however each puncture has come within a few days of checking the tyres and topping the pressure up...

    Cycling Undercrackers

Hmm, that sort of makes sense apart from the circular depression at the rear, what is that for?

    Cycling Undercrackers

Doctor: I'm afraid we've had to take a foot off. Patient: That's good I'll be able to wear a kilt again! Wasn't that Spike Milligan? Anyhow lots of ideas, thanks! Most involve items you have to change out of though, was hoping to avoid that..... Will try the jumping and hoiking trick.

    Cycling Undercrackers

Apologies for raising this delicate topic but... I've now covered over 1300 miles on my Kalkhoff Pro Connect 9G and am very happy with it, one of the often stated advantages of an ebike is that one can travel to work in normal clothes without getting too hot and sweaty and needing to...

    Map my ride

I stopped using MapMyWalk a while ago and now use Viewranger instead, I prefer it and use it for walking cycling and kayaking!

What do you do to prevent theft of your e-bikes/battery?

Although I get your point, any more than 15mins shopping and I'm looking for an excuse to bring it to an end!

Safety advantages or disadvantages of e-bikes over conventional bikes?

One possible safety disadvantage that has become apparent (at least to me) recently involves the cut-off of assistance. I tend to ride at or around the 16mph limit of assistance and there have been several occasions where I've needed to put a little spurt on to get out of trouble and had that...

What do you do to prevent theft of your e-bikes/battery?

Mine is in a locked garage at home, at work its in a bike rack outside with a D lock, there is no possibility of bringing it inside as its a 'clean' laboratory facility. I do bring the battery in though.

    Local Doctors

My doctor is very good and it doesn't seem difficult to get an appointment, I developed a bit of a heart problem last year which was very professionally dealt with and is now under control. The year before when Mrs T developed cancer we were also well cared for. No doubt the system is under...

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect.

14 miles seems a bit low to be completely flat, I do a 24 mile round trip to work and had to do 2 days commute then ride around the village a couple of times to get mine to go completely flat. Maybe yours was not fully charged when you got it? Mind you I am in flat Cambridgeshire.

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect.

Mine came with swathes of paperwork in amongst which was some instructions relating to running the battery completely flat for the first 3 charges. Whether this is useful or not I couldn't say. I did it and haven't had any problems so far.

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect.

I have a Pro Connect 9G which I bought just after Christmas and have since covered around 1000 miles with. So far I have not noticed anything particularly untoward and am rather please with it. Fingers crossed though!

Hello, is an ebike a suitable alternative to a expensive train commute?

I see. I suppose when motorbike was mentioned I had something other than a moped in mind! I'm also fortunate in that a dedicated cycle way exists for at least half my journey which is more direct than the nearest road on which the traffic is bad at the times I travel. My current 12 mile...
