Odd fault , any ideas ?

Hi Kirsten Does it ever manage to go further then a few yards or is it always cutting off when you accelerate? What happens if you lift the wheel off the ground and accelerate, does the wheel spin up to speed? It could be the motor drawing too much current which might happen if there was a...

    DIY EBIKE

Yes that's a very good point Also - if you're cycling in the Alps you're likely to be covering more than 440m of height, which is the required height we worked out you need to be climbing to make regen braking worthwhile on the average ebike. Check out this blog post for the argument (and some...

    DIY EBIKE

Hi Paul We have written a blog post on just this topic: http://www.pandaebikes.com/geared-v-s-direct-drive-ebike-motors/ Short answer is, geared motors are the best as you get more power and efficiency. Direct drive motors are the only way if you want regen braking, but realistically there is...

DIYer in need of some assistance

Hi There To answer your question about restriction - yes our controllers are unrestricted but the top speed will still be limited by your maximum motor RPM at the battery voltage Did you buy a 48V controller to go with your 48V battery? Also are you using a 48V setup with a 36V wheel?

Advice please on a replacement controller.

Hi Dave The speed is worked out from the electrics in the controller - how often it changes motor phase to keep the wheel spinning. If you are going down hill without motor power then it won't be able to detect speed. IF you have a motor with a dedicated speed sensor then you'll be ablge to get...
