Yep looked like the bottom bracket was just a big jar of treacle, the pedal action looked rather odd to say the least.

So if for example someone pinches all the electronic parts from your e-bike can't you just order all the parts from a shop that sells said e-bike?

At age 32/33? your cycling days are far from over. I really would question your need for a motor given the short distance you commute, it will surprise you how quickly your fitness will improve if you ride eveyday.

That's interesting. I'm guessung on a couple of the photos the motor shown is different than the universal one as the frames shown have an extra bracket welded on to support the motor. I wonder how much they cost and where you'd get hold of one in this country.

Thanks Andy, I realise your answer is more for the original poster. I'm guessing the small wheels are the key here with the hill-climbing ability, the diameter increasing the torque compared with a bigger wheel. So a 500w hub motor in a small rear wheel for added torque and traction...

I'd imagine what you require would be easy to acheive, but I've no practical experience on this myself, come on guys tell us how. I had a short bike ride today, my first in years to be honest, it was a gentle ride with my friend and kids and I'm really pleased to say I actually found it...

I assume that you mean that it is too quick for riding with none-electric powered cyclists? If so why not join a local cycle club on their Sunday morning club run? that would be interesting.
