EWC emailed me to say that they now have Nano kits in stock.

They had been waiting for 36 hole rims. Interestingly they got round the problem by sourcing the Tongxin TXM-F80 - 36v, 260RPM motor with 28 holes

I didn't even know these existed unless they got Tongxin to make them up. Certainly solves the rim availability problem.

I must say the new management of EWC are very communicative, respond quickly and are helpful. I hope they thrive as they are pretty much the sole UK supplier for this requirement.

Meanwhile I await my Chinese shipment with fingers cross

Interesting. The 28H option on the Tongxin is certainly surprising. Maybe they actually mean that they found a way to lace the 36H hub into a 28H rim, which would leave 8 spokes out (it's common practice to skip holes in high-performance lightweight wheel building).

Dan from my understanding it is a motor with "only" 28 holes in it. That said maybe its not a Tongxin ?

Perhaps they just asked Tongxin to drill 28 holes instead of 36?

Well yes they may have done that I agree.

My point is I just wondered why its not been done before given that sourcing 36H rims for the Brompton is both difficult and more expensive than standard 28H ones

As they say sometimes the simplest solution is often the best but there may be engineering and design issues why they haven't before now.
