    how much faster by eBike.....???

Whilst not commuting I had the chance to do a comparison last week with a local 24 year old club rider/ national road race rider on a training ride he did. It was 36 miles with 2,900 feet of climbing, he did it in 2.42 hrs at an average speed of 13.5 mph, by his own admission he wasn't going...

You have insufficient privileges to post here

According to the sticky below, you have to post in the electric bicycles area first. The quote below won't show in its entirety either, oh hang on it will, can only just make out the expand button. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/welcome.717/

I had the exact same problem, also couldn't post a message, so used the contact us tab too.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

I have a basic phone that makes calls, sends text messages and has a torch on top. However I like to ride good bicycles. That Ezee torq is not comparable to a good bicycle. I'm not a snob though as your simple test proves I'm not.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

A lot depends on the tyres too, my KTM Macina cross on standard tyres can be hard work above the assist level, especially on any uphill, including slight up hills, but then on some flat sections it isn't too bad. Some faster rolling tyres may help a bit. I often find myself riding at about 18...

    Website update is good

I wonder how many people are still out there clicking on their old link like I was and waiting patiently for the new forum to go live, which it never did. So I eventually Googled the forum and found it

Indeed, Strava is self policing. Stay off the top spot and you're unlikely to get flagged, however having said that it really isn't in the spirit of things to leave good e-bike rides on the leader board.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

Ah OK, I drove down there after picking my wheel up from you, a bit of a detour to take in the sights. I guess on the right e-bike there's a 20 minute ish gain to be had on your commute each way for the same input from yourself as you'd give on the racer.

    how much faster by eBike.....???

I've just been comparing the 4 rides myself ;) pretty much what I expected. People who are much less fit benefit from legal speed e-bikes the most. As you've found backing off a lot can be the way to ride a bike like that, the trouble is, it isn't in our nature to ride like that :) Don't...

    how much faster by eBike.....???

I think the ride into work will see the most gains. Your ride home tonight will have been good at the start and then I imagine a mixture of feeling slower at times and a little frustrated. A very similar time I imagine, especially given what I imagine will have been some tailwind tonight...

    Meeting with Bosch

Almost every ride I do sees me going up steep hills in turbo, I've seen 4 bars of the display disappear on one climb! I guess my battery isn't going to last long.

    Meeting with Bosch

Doesn't that make all this talk of the sophisticated electronics in the Bosch system nothing more than a myth then? It mustn't be that difficult to get the Bosch system to work with a none Bosch battery set-up.

    Oldman here

I didn't say a crank drive would be suitable, I said it will give you an experience that is closest to a normal bike. However in the future old man may find that a crank drive will work.

    Oldman here

At the moment I guess it is tricky to know how you'll get on. A good crank drive will give you an experience that is closest to a normal bike, but that might not suit your ability now. Or you may have to have an interim bike that is a step-through, hub drive and has a throttle. It is difficult...

    Oldman here

I found this thread interesting with the picture below in http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/16397-electric-bike-muscles.html Can you get on and off an ordinary bike OK? also tell us how you cope on one of your other bikes, will that leg now produce any force?

    Recommend me a cheap bike

Bigger seats don't necessarily mean more comfort, from the ones I've tried the opposite is true.
