    ABS braking for e-bikes

I can't do blockies on my current bike, it is too heavy. On the dry and on a good surface blocking the front brake can be a life saver! If you have to emergency brake on wet or slippery surfaces I just do my best and hope things work out okay in the end...:D

    ABS braking for e-bikes

"The second study, based on data from more than 5,400 bicycle collisions and falls, also confirms that no braking took place in up to 75 percent of collisions. This is where ABS systems can be invaluable." I'm having a lot of trouble understanding how an ABS system is going to help when people...

Scorcher - how hot is it where you are?

Living in the foot hills of the Pyrenees we are used to violent thunder storms, problem is they are getting more and more violent. There is one brewing but when for, will the tomatoes survive?... But hey! It is all just a bad Chinese joke remember. Snow in California in June? Perfectly normal...

Scorcher - how hot is it where you are?

Update: This morning around 7:20 the wind changed direction to the south and the temperature rose from the stable all night value of 27° to about 32° in about five minutes... My computer packed it in a half hour ago which means it is probably over 35° in my apartment with the shutters down...

    Ah

And then there is the vélomobile: "Due to vastly better aerodynamics of velomobiles the range of a similar electric assist unit and similar battery in a velomobile can be about 50% to 100% higher compared to upright bicycles or unfaired recumbents." (Wikipedia) Lets say between 3.75 - 6 Wh/km...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

No, it has just gone downhill like everywhere else as companies try to increase profit margins. German engineers are highly qualified but they lack imagination so they conceive products that are more and more bland IMO. With ZF getting into the electric bike business with various partners there...

What? A D8vexit! Thanks for the inspiration, I will be joining you as a bent rider hopefully early next year. And because of my environment I will be continuing with e-assistance to boot.

    Bike park pricing vote.

Oh right! They have one of those up on the Rhune, it's free... Built and maintained by the local users. Last time we walked by there was a guy from Brittany who had driven down to try it. It is on "public land", nods as good as a wink to a blind horse... :D

    Riding on beaches...tyres etc...

I live near a beach and changed from slick to Big Ben tyres because of sand on the road. You definitely want something over 2" and with a little tread. So far I have no oxidation problems but my GF who lives a bit further inland has all kinds of rust on her bike including SS bits I put on at the...
