I've no doubt it will work well, but at nearly a kilo in added weight and doubtless costing quite a bit, I doubt it will be a popular buy.

"The second study, based on data from more than 5,400 bicycle collisions and falls, also confirms that no braking took place in up to 75 percent of collisions. This is where ABS systems can be invaluable."

I'm having a lot of trouble understanding how an ABS system is going to help when people aren't even braking... o_O

I noticed that too!

A case of marketing triumphing over facts.

.. cannot see how that would help, cyclists are as likely to get a rear end collision from a faster moving vehicle. So automatic speeding up might have value. Cyclists tend to have eyes in their heads looking forward, and not to be traveling fast.. 25 km HR is not fast!,
I was assuming that the abs referred to anti locking , stopping the cyclist going over the handlebars

I can't do blockies on my current bike, it is too heavy. On the dry and on a good surface blocking the front brake can be a life saver! If you have to emergency brake on wet or slippery surfaces I just do my best and hope things work out okay in the end...:D
