Perhaps one for a new thread, the ethos of riding an electrically assisted pedal cycle.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

The future's bright, it's orange. British schools cyclocross round today, a win in the girls and a strong 2nd place in the boys :)

Ebike to keep up with fast group

My own power is below par due to illness, however the sort of power I related to allows me to reasonably comfortably keep up with serious young club riders, which I have absolutely no chance of doing on an ordinary bike. I will concede that none of us know just how fit the OP is. ETA I forgot...

Ebike to keep up with fast group

I don't agree at all with the last two posts, you don't need that much power to keep up, crank drive (for optimum motor speed) and no limiter and just under half Bosch classic hub gear power is more than enough in a good rolling bike. 600 wh may be required though for an average ish club ride.

Ebike to keep up with fast group

I'd have offered a racing bike given the requirements he wants.

even then they'll leave you trailing on the downhill bits.

Failing to climb hills with gear changing

It's clearly not changing gear under load, there's a knack to it which once mastered is perfectly fine and becomes second nature. It involves a very brief pause of pedalling whilst changing gear, you can often hear the gear-change happen. I have it off to a tee on my classic Bosch Nexus 8. I...

woosh gsm can this be used with double/triple chainrings

Hard to tell from that photo, but I very much doubt it for some of my bikes. Probably best on a bike with a wide rear axle, I forget what width MTB's are up to now.

The chain-line would be dreadful on the outer sprockets though.

    A-Bike Electric *finally* arrived!

That staged rider also had no brakes and a freewheel, perhaps he had a pedal-back brake.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

A very wet south Derbyshire today, with a 4th and impressive 5th for a 9 year old starting right at the back in a big field of U12's .

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Good. I'm on a windows PC, but only a 10. something screen. The Giant website is similar so you're not alone.

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Crazy price, I can't see that much of it on my little netbook though, that top bit of the page takes half my screen up in my current resolution. I therefore quickly leave websites that are poorly set-up like that.

    Yamaha Lapierres

Surely factory. Not a good start that's for sure. I might be inclined to ask for a new bike if the frame has suffered damage.

Hello all, thanks for the forum!

You do know smoking and stopping up all night are bad for you. :p

Has Giant manufactured their own crank drive system?

I really hope they don't sell many, so that there'll be plenty left this time next year :D http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bikes/model/road.e.1/24987/90635/

Freego raptor or another ...advice pls

Thanks Trex, they're certainly moving in the right direction. Without riding one I guess it's difficult to understand the way the power cuts out, but thanks for the explanation.

How quickly does the assistance stop then? is there any delay?

Freego raptor or another ...advice pls

I'm not sure I'd feel safe without the reassurance of the cut-out switches, or have things improved whereby the power cuts instantly the second you ease off the pedals?
