    eBikes getting some love....

I've seen this mentioned when someone has died, and relatives want to see all their facebook stuff after the account has been closed.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I remember when you posted that at the time Eddie, he's got true grit that's for sure. Grace did her first sportive aged 7, it was my first one too, and her mum made me do it on my non-electric bike. She did that much last year, she won the Derbyshire junior sports person of the year award. She...

    Fantasy Ebike

Tiny crank-drive with about 1/3 rd of Bosch power, full disengagement when above 16 mph, so zero motor drag (not something any current bike has), 11 ah battery hidden in the down tube, total bike weight <12 kgs max, say all wrapped up in my KTM Revelator. So a bike which still rides well on the...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Will do. They're really tarmac and hill climb riders. Here's Grace breaking a one mile U12 hill climb record by 4 secs last month when she was still only 8, so she has another 3 years to improve on the time.

    Hub Gears

My Nexus 8 hub geared Bosch bike gets me up here http://www.strava.com/segments/2441513 and as you'll see I take 29 seconds out of Hill climb specialist Lee, who is one of the finest hill climbers in the country.

Someone make up my mind for me..

Last one too, you'd better be quick.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Not ebike related, but off-road of sorts, with mud a common theme. I could do with Eddie's bike cleaning skills keeping these two bikes running now. oh and yes we have snow, quite a bit more here than in the photos taken in Sheffield.

Someone make up my mind for me..

Not sure which Cube, but I'd go with the Cube over the Freego any day.

    Hub Gears

In that case the 51 cm one should be perfect, I'm the same height and have a slightly older version of the Macina.

    Smart ebike out of production?

I thought the same. A revisit shows 3 much more suitable bikes from their range. For example http://www.raleigh.co.uk/Haibike/Product/Default.aspx?pc=1&pt=198&pg=16171

    Have I missed anything?

Hopefully some of the snow in Newtown had melted enough to have a test ride. Buxton had about 2" so we're in a winter wonderland in these parts.

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

Heavy bikes don't get blown about as much on very windy days.

    Have I missed anything?

I looked at the heavy shopper bike linked in this thread yesterday, but came away with this instead, and I really wasn't looking for another bike  don't tell Col :p Lancslass can you stretch the budget by another grand to 3 grand?

    Have I missed anything?

I was convinced I would need a throttle too, different health related issues to you. When I started riding I realised I could manage just fine without. Just something to think about, it may of course turn out that you do need the throttle, but you may be pleasantly surprised.

    Have I missed anything?

They don't change gear very well uphill under load, it's difficult to cut the motor power and execute a smooth gear-change. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/woosh-santana-cd-gearchange-quality.18101/

    Have I missed anything?

I'd do some research on the gear-change issues of the Woosh CD bikes first, at least then you'll be prepared.

Why does a Pedelec cut out at 15.5mph?

The cut out on mine is smooth too. It just requires at least twice of the effort to ride at 17 mph, or as I have to do, back off a little and put hardly any effort in below the cut-off. My bike just isn't suitable for trying to ride above the cut-off on the flat. A gentle slope makes the world...

Why does a Pedelec cut out at 15.5mph?

It's worth pointing out that that was done on roads that were either going uphill or downhill steeply. Conditions where the cut-out has much less of an impact than on flatter roads. I challenge you you repeat the test on a flatter commute now, perhaps you could do an extended flatter circuit on...
