Hello all. I have my Cube Bosch bike for one week now. I’m really enjoying it. This is my first time riding an e bike and I’m unsure if the bike is performing as it should on steep hills.

If I’m ascending and I lower the gears the power seems to cut from the motor and I stop. What I need to do is to get in a lower gear on the flat and then begin to climb and then there is no problem, I just can’t change gears on a climb or I get this (cut out?). Is this normal?

The bike has is rear hub Shimano Alfine SG-S7000, 8-Speed –the gears do not always shift fully and I’m thinking this maybe happening more on hills, maybe this is the cause?

Any advice would be appreciated

It's clearly not changing gear under load, there's a knack to it which once mastered is perfectly fine and becomes second nature. It involves a very brief pause of pedalling whilst changing gear, you can often hear the gear-change happen.
I have it off to a tee on my classic Bosch Nexus 8. I imagine the newer Bosch is the same if that's what you have.
