Woohoo!

It's only 3 months late - but it (actually they, I got 2) arrived today.

First impressions:

Packaging is well done. Outer sleeve box with no hint as to what the contents are, then the inner product box with branding. No excessive protection

  1. Overall it seems solid for what is basically an origami telescopic contraption.
  2. It's *light*. My E-TWOW electric kick scooter weighs the same.
  3. Instructions are brief, but well put together.
  4. Minor assembly bugs - the seat clamp is too tight, and to fix this means some disassembly
Also, the front reflector wasn't tightly screwed in. Thankfully it comes with a little toolkit, so this got fixed.
  5. It's surprisingly comfortable - the seat is definitely made for relaxed commuting.
  6. That's it - tomorrow is the baptism.
I can't exactly say I'm overly enthusiastic about it. It's mid December - conditions are not at all ideal for a folding pedelec with 200mm wheels.
Still, my colleagues have been waiting to see this thing since August. I just hope I don't wipe out....
  7. I think I am one of the first "real" customers to try this - so if anyone has questions, let me know.
For those following my "newbie" thread, I still intend to get a more "forest friendly" pedelec soon.
Oh, and it has the Sir Clive Sinclair heritage :)

Oh, and it has the Sir Clive Sinclair heritage :)
It was actually designed by student Alex Kalogroulis who is the primary name on the patent. Sinclair gave him a job and got to share the credit for the A bike design in consequence, though he'd played no part in it's design.

It's difficult to say no to the boss when you've been an impecunious student. :(

Well thats something interestingly different....... just keep an eye out for the potholes, even the really small ones.

Very clever!

Now, can it be de-restricted so it can do 45kph and can it have a full throttle?;)

Tom
cwah might do this!

It seems what he'd like, small and light enough to take upstairs into his home but an e-powered bike on the road. For him it just needs the right controller and 72 volt battery.

.....and that's the problem! Sir Clive hasn't exactly covered himself in glory since the early days of personal computers.

I fear this innovation, which he seems happy to associate himself with, may go the same way as the C5. It may have some merits but it just ain't gonna happen and I suspect one production run will be all it gets.

Hi,

this is my first post on this site.

I too received my A-Bike Electric over the weekend. Does yours have a noticeable rattling/crunching noise coming from the front hub motor, e.g. when it's engaging or running above motor power speeds?

I've not ridden one Reggie, but that does not sound right at all.

I would get it exchanged under warranty, for peace of mind, coz something like that does not get better.
I don't know the exact details of distance selling regs, but you should be able to get an exchange, or you can reject it and get your money back.

I like it - as someone who has to lift 26 Kg up a step into the house after a ride, 12 kg sounds like heaven.
