kit for loaded touring in the mountains/hills?

Checking might become fashionable since they caught the first guy using a motor in 3rd division club racing here last week... She won't be able to ride up at the same speed as you, she will have to ride on ahead, stop for a bit until you catch up, repeat. Any decent 250 W hub motor will do the...

    torque torque

If I kept the GSM on the upright for round town use I would have swapped the twin chainring out for a 38 with an 11-40. Wellington riding brings back warm memories, when I was a student I lived on Tasman street and later above Lyall Bay on the aptly named View Road :)

    torque torque

Gears are important on a hub drive motor - use the right gears and you will get lots more range from the battery. If you are in the wrong gear it will be more forgiving. I have stalled a GSM mid drive in 1st gear. The hill is probably over 15% (I can't rely on Google maps slope calculator...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That would be common agricultural policy he is blaming. Once you get rid of that there will be lots more land to build coal fired factories on. Just think miners back to work, working class kids out of school and into the factory as of age 12... The future looks great, just like the 19th century...

    How to carry 8 children

The other day I saw a photo of an extra long two wheel cargo bike in Denmark with 8 kids in. Not dangerous Mike because they have the infrastructure and the cycling culture to make it work.

    Fascism returns to Spain

Some facts: Spain's prime minister is delusional and incompetent and he clings to his parliamentary immunity because he is up to his neck in corruption scandals. His government is corrupt and incompetent, they have a tax on solar panels (!!!) in 2017, they are a minority government at the heel...

Complete eBike kit just 3.6kg weight and price £225? Surely not...

I am keen to see what Wh/km I can obtain from the GSM when mounted to the trike, it is certainly more efficient than my upright! Anything under 7.5 Wh/km is fine. If I keep the cutoff to street legal 25 km/h the motor should only ever be used on climbing steeper hills so 5 Wh/km should be no...

    Fascism returns to Spain

Wonderful place! I haven't been for a while, last time was about 5 years ago, I drove over the pass the first week it was open, great fun stopping and walking around on the snow in the hot end of May sunshine. The high speed line that menaces to totally disfigure the Basque coast should have...

2018 Yamaha Electric Bike Updates at Interbike

I'm planning my future battery for the trike, that money would buy me 1.6 kW of LiPo or a little less and more chargers :D

2018 Yamaha Electric Bike Updates at Interbike

The Yamaha branded e-bike has stirred up a hornets nest in MTB world. The Orbea Gain in the road bike world. The comments on some of the forums leave me perplexed, the Americans and UK bicycle rider chaps have some serious issues...

Kitting up for the first time

When I ride in street clothes I ride more slowly and sorry, my clothes stay dry. That is what I have a motor for! When going out on the town in temperatures between 28°C and + 35°C I wear a sports tee during the ride and carry my city shirt in the panier. Usually in that kind of weather I am in...

    CONVERTING A BABBOE CARGO

https://lunacycle.com/mini-cyclone-kit/ $419 + shipping. Maybe you could tune this down a little by using a smaller controller, say to 1500 W peak? Your IGH would probably say thank you!

    Time of year again.

Another depressing weather related post from "up north"... Oh well... I am missing two sizes of Big Bens, I now have them in 28", 26" and 20". The 20" ones look beastly  The only inconvenient I have found so far is that they make lots of noise above 60 km/h  maybe I'll try some...

    Fascism returns to Spain

It is all about xenophobia, the Catalan and Basque areas are rich and industrial and they don't want to pay for the Gypsies of Andalusia... Besides that Catalan politicians are just as corrupt as those in Madrid, Pujol took billions of Euros (read that number out loud) in under the table payment...

    E-Bikes on trains

The cheap French bus companies differentiate, but from what I understand it is a weight issue, not a battery issue. Bikes (all kinds) are free on TER and cost 10€ on other trains. Bikes in bike bags are free because considered as hand luggage. I would always remove the battery and carry it...

    I'm bent!

25 A, not yet... :D I want to mount the controller directly to the frame (after waterproofing) and I wanted to get rid of the wires and fit higo panel mount connectors in the end. If I fit higo connectors to the smaller controller box they will have to be on pigtails. I forgot the camera...
