    Derailleur with 65 mm chainline

It isn't the 4 extra teeth on the large chainwheel that worry me much, rather the 16 tooth difference between the two. I'm worried about the metal bar that closes the derailleur cage on the bottom rubbing the chain - when using small chainring small cog on rear derailleur.

    Derailleur with 65 mm chainline

Translation: Front derailleurs have a maximum chainring size and capacity. I need a front derailleur that can handle 48 or 50 teeth and 32 or 34 teeth chainwheels (capacity 16). A BBS0x or a GSM has a chainline of about 65mm or more, a little too wide for a normal derailleur. Problem...

OK your silence speaks a thousand words... New plan: Braze on Sora 2x9 speed derailleur, 50-34 or 48-32 capable out of the box. Braze on adaptor, $8 shipped from Taiwan, Make an extension from CF that fits on to the adaptor and holds the derailleur 2 cm further outboard. The forces on a...

    Real Life Range

No such thing! or Means different things to different people! But you need an example right? I have recently been riding an un-powered trike as well as my pedelec, my legs have gotten stronger. That has resulted in 23% reduction in Wh used per km. Or 23% extra range if you wish. See what I...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

More French related to brexit: In French there is a lovely word which can describe much of the French je ne sais quoi since the WW's - pragmatisme. I think that English may have borrowed that word (Greek in origin) in some point of history? The antonyms are equally interesting: impractical...

Lots of other things go well with battered fish (battered not beaten?) and many things go well with chips (french fries?) but I have a hard time trying to sell battered fish and chips to a Basque fisherman's daughter... :D Try pronouncing that out loud

16 mph Scooter on hotUKdeals £203

    Not street legal!

I am wondering if I am going to make my trike into a L1e A "powered cycle" - speed cut off at 25km/h and motor to 1000W. The only thing it seems to require beyond a pedelec is a number plate holder, so it would have to go through the French registration procedure. No type approval required...

    Indicators

I have no flashing lights on my bikes. They aren't legal lighting and on the occasions I am a driver I find some to be dangerous they are so blinding. Indicators are not obligatory on mopeds in France. Nobody here will be expecting to see them on a bicycle.

    40 mile round trip commute - 20mph - help please :)

The best way to know how much you have left is to use a Watt meter between the battery and the controller. The lights will show voltage and as you know the discharge curve of Li-Ion is quite flat - you have 36v for quite a long time. Then it falls away sharply. I am guessing that your LCD is in...

    I'm bent!

Gears indexed finally. I have 18 gears out of 24 theoretical, the small chainwheel will not shift accurately up above 6th gear (chain too long) - I am not worried about this because the motor only has two chainwheels with 16 tooth difference vs 22 teeth difference with the triple. Rear mudguard...

    Not street legal!

It has to be able to run for 1 hour at 250 W continuous power with 2 degree Kelvin variation in temperature to meet EN15194 norms. (paragraph 4.2.7) Many geared hub motors can run at 1500 W for considerable periods of time without getting hot enough to weaken the nylon gears if you put a bit...

1st steps for Commission to take over control of National Type Approval?

Make that two, the French constructors got caught too but as they aren't sold much in the US there was a lot less noise. As for the Italian certification body... IIRC they have been condemned by the courts in the EU but was it for cars?
