    TONARO on Ebay

you should know that they are rather heavy bikes. The Unicorn you are interested in weighs 30kgs. I rode it a few years back, it's nice but not exceptional.

because you do not use the 1000W label in the correct context. There is nothing illegal about selling or buying 1000W kits. The 1000W label is not defined in the same way that e-bike manufacturers define 250W to get their bikes through EN15194. The so called 1000W kits refer to the 48V 22A specs...

flud & Morphix: I am still scratching my head for not knowing where you want to go with this. Let me tell you one thing about powerful illegal bikes (like the GreyP which is switchable to road legal mode): they are in such a vanishingly small number that their usefulness in pushing technologies...

    which e-bike

Rob, the Big Bear has been refined over the last two years. How many bikes under £1,200 do you know have forged alloy crankset and SRAM Avid disc brakes? The next batch will feature much better soft grips and sprung seat posts.

flud, you make it sound like this forum is full of people with 1000W bikes. I bet you can't name more than 3 members with them. I have been here long enough to notice that most speed e-bikers are fit cyclists and ride German bikes fitted with a dongle like Soundwave. Some members fit BBS02 to...

    Whoosh bikes and the law

yes, I think that's the case. When the type approval facility is in place, I guess in 2017 well before 1/1/2018, woosh and other sellers will need to get their bikes with throttle through the certification process, then your Mum can carry on using the throttle. The cost of certification would...

    1000w ebike ???

You give the impression that the full assistance can be maintained legally up to the speed limit and you can top it up with personal effort. In fact, the assistance must decrease when you approach the legal speed limit and cease when you are over. You must therefore ride entirely on your own...

    Whoosh bikes and the law

The subject was discussed for months before 1/1/2016, the date the law changed. Bikes with throttle like the Petite should be put through type approval, but the apparatus for type approval is not ready yet. The DfT simply moves the date to when the test centres are ready and the process can be...

    My new 31 year old "e-bike" !

the C5 can't be used on rough surfaces. The rear brakes are on the right, the motor is on the left. Unless you fix it properly, it won't be pleasant or safe to ride. BTW, you can't bolt that 400 Euro Triton Pro kit to the C5. It's a toy trike on its own. I test rode a 20" wheeled trike with...

    My new 31 year old "e-bike" !

you would need to add something like this to the C5 to make it safe first:

    My new 31 year old "e-bike" !

the C5 is such a poorly designed trike, the rear axle does not have a differential, the steering is difficult to control. It does not matter whether it can be retrofitted with a front or rear kit, the thought of a fast and strong motor on it fills me with fear.

Which Electric bike to buy its a hard choice

read one of flecc's posts back at the beginning of January. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/res...n-electrically-assisted-pedal-cycles-eapc.11/ The download button is at the top right corner. it's a bit messy to download the attachment but para 3.2 is essentially a concession to the throttle...
