woosh only sell 36V version of the BBS02 limited to 25kph, not the fast 48V. The motor is '500W capable', not '500W nominal'. As far as I know, not even Bafang define the nominal power of their BBS02. I am pushing for all kits to be supplied with certificate of conformity. Derestricting is...

I usually prefer technical threads. live and let live, campaigning is not in my DNA. However, I do find it more and more irritating newbies who come here and ask 'how can I derestrict my XYZ?' In the same token, I hate adverts for '1000W kits' and I find Col's obsession with e-mtbs irksome. We...

    M33 spanner for gsm kit

I use one like this: https://www.pedalpro.com/pedalpro-bicycle-bottom-bracket-locking-15mm-16mm-spanner-tool.html I also replaced the left allen crank bolt with an M8 hex crank bolt that can be tightened better...

flud, I think posting directly in those threads - where you feel they promote illegal use or illegal bikes, is more acceptable to everyone concerned.

I ride lightweight, low assist bikes for sometime now. Before my current Giant D5 converted bike, I rode Bafang SWXH and BBS01 15A, nothing high power. it's good to see the debate taking a turn for the better, with logical argument. Some members like flud may be obsessed with e-mtbs, I am not...

that's just semantics. We are not talking about climbing hills or mechanical systems here. Ask Soundwave how fast he can go on the flat with and without the electrics on.

Tillson, I see all politicians as wily, so I won't comment on Sadiq or Zac or Ken or Boris but I think our systems are pretty robust against corrupted and corrupting politicians. Whoever is going to be the new mayor of London on Thursday, there is the London Assembly. Personally, I don't like...

Has anyone tried to register an S-class in the UK?

    I don't think anyone has registered a Stromer ST2 here. IIRC, the ST2 is TA'ed as s-pedelec.

the dongle may not have much effect on hub drive bikes but it does add the full output of a CD motor to the rider's own output beyond the legal speed limit. By numbers, the dongle represents the most significant illegal add-in. I would suggest that Bosch, Yamaha, Kalkhoff and Brose should make...

Has anyone tried to register an S-class in the UK?

if an s-pedelec were built to L1eA and type approved as such then I think you should be able to register it. The danger is they may be derestricted. 1KW power can let you exceed 28mph leave alone 16mph. I may have read somewhere that S-pedelecs have many concessions with regard to type of...

2018 type approval for EAPC with full speed throttle.

I don't think so. Assuming the test bike has already passed EN15194 without the throttle, they are not going to re-test the bike unless there is something that may cause concern. They would just receive their fees, test the throttle for EMI and rubber stamp it. They may require that the throttle...

Has anyone tried to register an S-class in the UK?

I may be wrong but this is how I understand the situation. The S-pedelecs legal elsewhere are type approved as 's-pedelec'. This type is not legal in the UK, hence their type approval certificate numbers are not usable here.

the date: 10-March-2009 that goes to show that over the last 7 years, these kits don't cause enough problems for ebay to ban this type of products. The real issue is the derestriction of otherwise legal EAPCs. edit: stuartm943 did not say what happened to him afterward. How much was the fine...

they are not good on hills either. On hills, you will need about 1500W to match the climbing performance of a Bosch CX motor but they run silently.
