    Road testing overvolted KT controller

One of my projects when I move everything to the trike is to fit a REAL heat sink to the controller. When you have touched a controller that has been drawing 15 A for any length of time you realise that the cooling fins on the casing are a joke. It isn't as if you can have the controller out in...

Calibrating the Cyclotricity Stealth LCD battery level.

This is one of the differences I have with d8veh: I prefer the real time voltage display so my controllers are all set to P=0. As soon as the controller detects a real voltage lower than than the LVC it turns off. If it is the result of voltage sag it will work again as soon as battery voltage...

Calibrating the Cyclotricity Stealth LCD battery level.

The LVC is in the controller which turns off when the voltage reaches a certain level. the default value is 3v per cell string so 30v for a 36v battery and 40v for a 48v battery.

    Weird Electric Bike on Ebay

I'm disappointed, I hoped the 48v battery was hidden in the pump!

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Yesterday I caught up and passed a chap on a Bosch powered bike (brand written really small, couldn't read it - great marketing!). He was very unimpressed so stood up and gave it all he had to re-pass me. I had the assistance turned up to 35 km/h (I know! Naughty me... ), was seated...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Remind me which country has the largest household debt (other than mortgages) in the EU? With all the UK banks rushing to set up offices in Frankfurt and Paris I can't see financial services being much of a problem here.

    Road testing overvolted KT controller

I have been using a 12S (44.4v nominative) battery for a while now around town, today was the first real world test and the 15 A 36v KT controller failed this test... Usual road to Hendaye, 12.7 km to the factory where SWMBO works: On the way (above image) all went well until the main hill...

    Li battery cutting out

Today I experimented with that for the first time, a 15 A KT controller can handle >600W for about 30-45 seconds then it throws the switch...

What is "Edge"? I think there must have been a windoze update that fixed Chrome recently... Everything works fine on Linux (Fedora 27 with all updates installed).

    'ey up from Rotherham

You don't have to lose it of course it is just that with a motor it often becomes useless. On my hub motor bike I had a triple chainwheel and never used it on anything but the big cog in over 3600 km. I then moved on to a mid drive and as I stalled it once on a test run I mounted a double -...

Guernsey first to apply ebike law?

Wasn't there a guy on here or maybe on ES from Guernsey with a hot rod DD bike? My guess is that he was caught by a hand held radar doing over 25 mph and so they investigated. The 33 mph could be just them lifting the rear wheel off the ground and giving it full throttle - not putting any...

Guernsey first to apply ebike law?

Would they have a lot of other stuff to do protecting the population from things that represent more danger than a 33 mph e-bike? Oh! They were protecting the rider from himself...

I have gotten out of the saddle to climb a hill once in the last 3 years! And that was because I was too lazy to change down... When I was riding a hub motor pedelec I rode a 1 X 7 speed 48:14-34 setup. I never needed more gears and I ride in the mountains of the Basque Country. Nowadays I have...

You can stretch the frame to fit 11 speed cassettes. A wide range 1 X 11 speed hub motor / cassette combination is a good solution.

The end of BionX? - An interesting post on ES by Justin Lemire-Elmore
