Ebikes and the Unfit Very Heavy Rider - A Cautionary Tale for Newcomers

I moved house last year and have no car here and have been avoiding public transport since February. A cheap non-electic bike was my only transport until June when I converted it to electric. I used to cycle a lot as a youngster but have been using a car for many years so my leg muscles were...

Spreading rear stays for hub motor

In the link Sheldon Brown states alloy is not suitable for cold setting, and everything I've read from him has been correct. Both my mtb's have alloy frames, I "sprung" one to suit the wider rear hub, the other is still standard but I will "spring" it (5mm-10mm) sometime so it matches the new...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

@Yak - just realised the "Rebound" photo is obvious only when you know the answer. Yep - it's fork adjustment - the dial is recessed at the bottom of the forks. I made a point of only looking at bikes with decent forks when I bought this, I checked online recently and even the handbook doesn't...

Suggestions please, how to modify a 26" kit to suit a 29er bike ?

I'm looking for suggestions as I have a very clean 29er mtb, and a complete 26" rear wheel kit (Yose). For now, I've removed the 29" wheels and have fitted the 26" rear hub motor and matching 26" front wheel. The 29" wheels have been kept so I can put the bike back to original in the future...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

This is now in the nice position of just needing minor tidy up jobs, today it was wheels as I had robbed the cassette and disks from my Mondraker to get this bike finished. Shame the 29er disks are Shimano splined fitting and won't fit the 6-bolt 26" wheels I'm using, it would have been a lot...

Spreading rear stays for hub motor

I'm still learning but had the same problem as you, to get the wheel out I used to hold the dropouts and put my thumb on the end of the axle - then apply pressure to spread the frame and pull the axle out on that side. repeat for the other side if needed. Eventually I used leverage to open up...

New green inititive to get people out of cars and onto bikes / public transport.

A new scheme will soon start a 2 year trial at Coventry: "Drivers who GIVE UP their cars will be offered £3,000 in 'credit' to spend on public transport, electric scooters and taxis under new green plans."...

    Rechargeable heated gloves

^ good point by @cannon - keeping the windchill off your hands is a big help, either muffs or good winter gloves. A lot has changed since I was last looking, gloves are now available with gel heatpads, usb powered (from ebike battery or portable powerbank), etc choices...

    Rechargeable heated gloves

I found heated grips on a motorbike made a huge difference in winter, a quick search for 36v versions found: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/winter-diy-heated-grips.36302/ Halfrauds 2019 Carrera has them, available as an aftermarke kit "next winter" (ie 2020)...

Case studies - how has your electric bike changed your life?

This thread seem quiet but still the best place for https://metro.co.uk/2021/02/15/paperboy-80-postpones-retirement-after-being-given-electric-bike-14081633/ :)

HELMETS - but different this time

Thanks for posting this, it's very well written and has already had some interesting replies. I have family in Denmark. As explained to me their highway code gives right of way to cyclists, as a result car drivers are hyper-alert looking for cyclists at junctions etc. It also causes car drivers...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

^ @PC2017 The difference in weather is amazing considering I'm less than a days drive south of the UK. I spoke to a mate in the UK today who had just got back from sledging with his lad, over here today was the hottest day this year - the solar hot water was actually bubbling in the pipes so I...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

The Velcro straps that came with the bag soon started to mark the paintwork so I used some box section to make a bracket to hold the bag onto the bottle mountings on the seatpost. 2 bolts to hold the bracket to the frame, a piece of cork behind the bracket to protect the paintwork, quick spray...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

The pas sensor is now working properly, the temporary fixings and packing pieces can stay as they are for now, if they cause problems in the future I’ll redo them more securely. @Yak - similar would work for you?

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

The conversion from Lushui to KT was completed a while ago, and the wiring tidied up soon after. Since then I’ve been waiting for a dry day. Normally I use bikes for road commuting, today was the first decent day for months so I went out on some rural tracks. A nice ride but no use for...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

A suggestion for the Yose sensor you have - that might help you work out a solution. Remove the cableties so the sensor isn't fixed to the bike, hold the sensor so it's in line with the frame downtube, slightly above/below is ok if you need clearance. You want the end with red led and cable as...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

See photos half way down the page ;) https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/yose-350-rear-hub-kit-transplanted-onto-scott.40186/ I used a non-yose sensor as that's what I had available, I have a yose sensor on another bike but don't see any way I could reverse it if I needed to.

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

Thanks for assuming I'm a wise person, wrong in this case as I tried reversing the disc and it made no difference so I removed the (old style) PAS sensor from it's bracket, flipped the sensor 180*, then spliced the old sensor wires to the "waterproof KT" harness. It's not the sensible or easy...

    Alternatives to flipping PAS disc?

I don't think you have space to rotate the sensor 180*, some older sensors are on a flat metal bracket and can be flipped by just undoing the locating screw. Which controller do you have? I think the sensor on some can be programmed to work in reverse which would fix your problem.

    36v in place of 24v

I changed a 24v bike to 36v, had to remove the 24v battery & mounting, then fit the new 36v battery and matching mounting.
