New technology - solid state batteries

Interesting new developments - wonder how long before they are available for bikes?

    Kudoscycles

Hi, Thanks for the update - I had a quick look. Feedback / comments : Just for info, the website shows 3x *Sale* KTM "force" bikes, links for all say "item not found". I've used Rally Design (the parent company?) in the past to buy good basic items at decent prices. I'm happy to use them again.

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

Latest update : this has been a fun and educational project but I've decided not to take it any further. The bike works and rides ok, everything is fixable but replacing all the bits that aren't quite right will cost more than the bike is worth. Shopping list : New controller (this one only...

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

The bike is now up & running but still has some issues. The clutch has been stripped, cleaned & free’d off. Now back together and working fine. Throttle connector works (using a potentiometer/ vari-resistor) There should be 3 assistance levels but I suspect the shorted 790 display has done...

    Gazelle ion display replacement.

Hi, video below shows how to use the charger to test basic system. On your bike (control system is part of the battery) can you connect the charger to the battery on the bike - and then turn it on? Suggest you check with others to see if its a good idea - I'm new to this and learning a lot in...

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

Things I found useful when I was fault finding (thanks to everyone who posted info!) : * get a basic multimeter, and learn how to read voltage and resistance/continuity (to check broken wires etc). * check battery voltage when you first get the bike ( does it have built-in led gauge?). Does...

    Gazelle ion display replacement.

Hi, I picked up an older well used ebike non-runner as a bit of a learning exercise / project, so I think I recently went through a similar think as you are planing. Question - does yours have the older led display (like mine) or something else? My progress is here - suggest you check the link...

Ezee Torq, front hub motor knocking/failed

Hi Ted, My motor has no (or a siezed) freewheel, I think my hub should have a 1-way bearing but I guess its rusted solid. There is slight play in my hub bearings (the rim has very slight sideways movement), maybe check yours - could this be part of your problem? Some links for background - I...

Ezee Torq, front hub motor knocking/failed

Hi Ted, I'm watching this with interest as I recently picked up a project with what I (as a total novice) think is a similar motor to yours. My photos might give you an idea of what to expect if you split yours further...

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

@Nealh - thanks for the info. Some progress today, it’s alive (sort of) :) The front fork is scrap so I can’t make it any worse, have re-cut the snapped axle drop-outs so the wheel is now bolted in place (not safe but ok for testing). Battery just needed charging (led on charger went green...

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

Hi folks, and welcome to a project I've just picked up to keep me occupied. It might get brought back to life as electric or non-electric, or could become a parts donor - a lot will depend what I find when I get started. First impressions : It's a Dutch town bike by Kemp Starley, high build...
