yes, although I imagine this grants the wish for less economic development in the uk you mentioned earlier in the thread? I think its obvious to all who can see the facts/reality that life outside the eu will be very difficult. In my department for now around a third to half of us are applying...

but which part of (to use a somewhat strange example) building public toilets for the Welsh amounts to bullying? Or what part of trying to protect UK jobs (i gather it is now certain tata will pull out of its uk steel plants, and moodys say its considering downgrading teh UK's triple A rating)...

speaking to colleague this am, both of us saying how we feel we misjudged the community we live in, so to speak, how incomprehensible it is that a majority actually really support views such as farage's or trump's?

that's a very balanced response. but the uk have just imho engaged in a incomprehensibly extreme act of economic self harm for misguided nationalist motives. one could hardly blame those defending the EU as a bloc if they consider some loss of trade with the UK entirely acceptable collateral...

very true - but the door is on the other end: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/24/europe-plunged-crisis-britain-votes-leave-eu-european-union there's a cliche in psychiatry that narcissists tend to elict reactions from others they are least able to tolerate(i.e. rejection), i think...

IMHO cameron has done UK more damage than blair, which is quite a spectcular achoevement. But he shoudlnt have resigned. now teh uncertainty will be orse. he shoudl have remained for a few months and steadied things. But naturally he doesnt give a sh@t, as always.

i wish you were right, sincerely, but i'm afraid youre not. i'd bet a bottle of cheap champagne this is teh beginning of a very big hangover, for all of us. i'm not an economist, but the uk's fundamentals are not good at all. the run on teh pund so far is IMHO really just the beginning. it will...

crikey, didn't know French hookers were doing interviews on TV about EU drinking laws :@( must confess there is a lewd part of my psyche that could get used to a laissez faire Europe, hookers and all

I'm off to Nice in a few weeks, it has been a lovely summer here so far, but I'm prepared to put up with hookers on plastic chairs (not to mention face lifts and hair implants in that neck of the woods) for the sake of a 23C ocean and some proper food and cappuccino

many thanks, I hope the vote doesn't adversely affect you either. Whichever way it goes, clichéd as it may sound, the debate has certainly done much to engage everyone (including ourselves) much more in the political process.

well, I've voted. one startling realisation I had after I did it is that it all felt hypothetical and up for discussion where as now - without wanting to be melodramatic, or buy into any of the scaremongering both sides have engaged in - it feels genuinely worrying. If it goes wrong the union...
