Do bike thief scum steal displays?

Unlikely, it's the whole bike they're after. Luckily, yours is a pain to remove and isn't just a clip in display.

Some of you guys/girls do know about specs on e-bikes > what u reckon on these specs on this bike ..

Shimano Nexus 8 and Gates belt is good, rest of bike pretty average. Overpriced for what it is. Would expect higher capacity battery at 2 grand.

Hailong downtube battery mount. Frame mounting a battery

I'm running Tektro HDC-300 hydraulic brakes on my bike and they look similar to the HD-M285. It was easy to fit the cut-off sensor and magnet, and once I had ensured that they were working perfectly, I added a small amount of glue to the magnet and sensor, to semi-permanently fix them in place.

    Charging phone from 5v wiring

I did find another type, which should allow you to use your own phone cable. DC Step Down Buck Converter 12V 24V 36V 48V (11-60V) to 5V 3A Dual USB Double

    Charging phone from 5v wiring

I would be reluctant to tap into the 5v supply to power a phone, as it may affect the controller's operation if it drags the voltage down due to current draw. How about one of these buck converters, with a USB end. No good if you got an iPhone or one with USB-C though. DC Step Down Buck...

    Bafang BBS01 conversion

I guess that where you've quoted 'just about' with the open ended tool, that you have the same problems I had when I used one of those. It's just too thick and wide, obviously to offset the structural weakness from being open ended, to do the job easily. I ended up spending more time faffing...

    Bafang BBS01 conversion

Whilst it's true that the BBS series of motors do exert a lot of rotational torque (correct term?) at the bottom bracket, especially the BBS02 and BBSHD. As long as the mounting plate is fitted with the knurled side facing inwards towards the bottom bracket housing, and the two lock nuts are...

@MG1 Have you made a shortlist of suitable bikes?

Help! light bike very good on steep hills?

Sorry, that was my fault for assuming that you would probably need something compact. £2500, well, that should get you exactly what you need :)

Help! light bike very good on steep hills?

I'm assuming that on your train commute, it would be beneficial to have a bike with a small footprint i.e. foldable. The bike in the link below might be a suitable candidate for commuting with train travel included, although I wouldn't say it was particularly lightweight at 22kg. With the...

How critical is the number of chain links?

As long as there's no fowling issues when using using the largest chainring with the largest cassette cog, then 2 links shouldn't be a problem. There's usually a bit of headroom with derailleurs and chains, to allow for slight variations in cog sizes.

    Bafang PAS vs Throttle

Here is a guide on programming the Bafang mid drive. It's a little hard to digest for newcomers to the programming side of things, but will give you an insight into what each parameter does. https://electricbike-blog.com/2015/06/26/a-hackers-guide-to-programming-the-bbs02/ Programming the...

    Bafang PAS vs Throttle

You'll need a programming cable as mentioned in this thread: https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/after-market-bbsxx-crank-drive-gear.32691/page-4 Then you'll be able to programme the PAS and throttle to function like you want.

White Lightning Clean Ride, anyone use it?

I use one of these bike stands to lift the rear wheel off the floor, when using the chain cleaner or lubing the chain: Bike stand suitable for BBS01, BBS02 and BBSHD

Ebikes and the Unfit Very Heavy Rider - A Cautionary Tale for Newcomers

I agree with vfr400. You have to look at the bigger picture and buy accordingly. If you are on the heavier end of the scale, then a legal 250w hub motor is simply not suitable for hill climbing without a lot of human power. Whereas, a BBS01 250w with the correct gearing (42T chainring/32T+...

White Lightning Clean Ride, anyone use it?

http://www.finishlineusa.com/products/chain-lubricants/dry-lube I use this one because it is very good in dry conditions, but not so great on muddy terrain. I have read good reviews about the Clean Ride and thought it might be better suited for the drivetrain.

Thinking of swapping my lube of choice over to this stuff. Does anyone use it, or something similar, and what are your experiences?

Where to get Statorade Ferrotec APG1110 in UK

What's the max amp rating of your controller? I've read, over on Endless Sphere, that riders who use that stuff in their hubs are running monster amps. It's unlikely you'll need to cool your set-up down, plus you may have the problem of the fluid leaking out of the axle bearings or casing seals.
