Which is the lesser of two evils?

It appears to use a smart BMS, this is the blurb on their website: "We use a high tech, fully programmable Smart BMS, which is rated for genuine 40A continuous plus, with a programmable over-current trip set to >60A (which is ample for the intended application). With our BMS you can view...

Which is the lesser of two evils?

It's time to replace my aging battery, powering my BBS02. This one is at the top of my short list, with the LG HG2 cells: https://em3ev.com/shop/em3ev-48v-13s5p-jumbo-shark-ebike-battery/?currency=GBP Now I have read up on the benefits of charging to 90% to be kinder to the cells, and EMV3ev...

Front Mac motor or possibly bafang motor axle

To add to anon4's comment. I had a rear MAC motor many years ago, which had the phase and hall sensor wires through the centre. Like you, I stripped the threads. The axle metal is like butter. I used a tap and die set to recut the threads, then fitted a longer nut, so more threads gripped the...

Just ordered Bafang BBS01 350w kit, what else do I need?

I personally blip my brake lever, fitted with cut-off sensor, when changing gear. It's second nature now, so never seen the need for a gear sensor.

Just ordered Bafang BBS01 350w kit, what else do I need?

Get a cable. There's a few tweaks you can do via the cable, that can make the riding experience nicer. And.... do not use the hammer method to tighten the lockrings. Get a proper tool. They are cheap enough on eBay and you won't run the risk of knacking your new toy. All BBS units produce...

Direct drive hub, 15 amps controller enough?

I personally think a 15 amp controller on a direct drive hub will be weak on hills. Shunt mod may work if done moderately, but too much solder might cause its demise.

kmc e10s chain wear on yamaha sduro bikes

I disagree. I've been using KMC X8 chains on my BBS02 for the last 4000 miles. Never had one break and they last around 1000 miles before I experience gear change problems. The BBS02 produces a boatload of torque, so isn't particularly kind to chains. Admittedly, the chain is probably a bit...

    Bafang BBS02 grinding!

I have tightened that outer ring very tightly and it didn't feel like it would strip the threads. Certainly on my BBS02, if I don't tighten those two rings down nice and tight, the motor unit eventually loosens with all the torque it produces.

Was I asking too much from a Dremel?

Thanks for the replies peeps. Probably just a faulty unit then :(

Fits perfectly on both lock nuts. Feels sturdy too.

    Bafang BBS02 grinding!

It would be nice to have a sticky thread, which people can refer to when fitting a kit, and for general tips for bikes already fitted with a kit. I suffered from a creak for a while on my BBS02, which bugged the crap out of me. It was only upon extensive investigation, that I found the motor...

Was I asking too much from a Dremel?

Found my Dremel 3000 this morning, which is a brand new Xmas gift from 2 years ago that I've never used until today. I needed to spot derust some tools, so I popped on the sanding band attachment and leisurely started to derust the tools. After about half hour of use (with short intermittent...

    Is this a dumb-ass idea?

I'm in a tinkering mood, so fancy converting my AC mains powered lawnmower into a battery powered one. I have a spare 48v 11.6Ah battery that I can use, but I'm wondering if I could use the following DC/AC inverter to make the conversion. 4000W DC 12/24/48V To AC 220V Car Solar Power Inverter...

48v to 52v battery on BBS02 worth it?

Has anyone changed from a 48v battery to a 52v one on a BBS02? I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on any performance increase and whether it's worth making the switch.

    bbs02b 500w 36v question

As I am planning on buying my next battery from EM3EV, I e-mailed them to clarify the import fees situation. This is the reply I received: ' We have one shipping method called as European-Direct method which can avoid the import fees. You just need to have a try with our website which has...

    bbs02b 500w 36v question

It's a lottery, but I certainly recommend buying one of EM3EV's batteries. As a couple of members have mentioned, a BBSHD will kill a battery pretty quickly if you don't get the best cells available. I made that mistake a few years ago with my BBS02 and a less than ideal battery pack.

    bbs02b 500w 36v question

I wouldn't recommend trying to mod these above 25A. After all, as vfr400 says, that's why Bafang created the BBSHD. Have you tried a programming cable, as there are software tweaks that will enhance performance of your current set up?
