I wouldn't recommend trying to mod these above 25A. After all, as vfr400 says, that's why Bafang created the BBSHD.

Have you tried a programming cable, as there are software tweaks that will enhance performance of your current set up?

I haven't bought one yet, I currently have a bbs01b 250w running 20 amps. I would buy the BBSHD but don't really want to buy another battery.

Batteries don't last long when you run them at 25 amps, so you'd be looking for a new one soon anyway. The 52v battery with the BBSHD can run with much less current for the same power as a 36V one, so it'll last longer.

If you run over 25 amps it will die , if you bog it down in the gears or run on full throttle for long periods the motor just cannot get rid of the generated heat quickly enough I found 23or 24 amps is the safe max
The bbshd is uprated in every way to cope with this
If you try there is a good chance the battery will die overheat or just go pop ,not even 30q will not like that power drain or if you parallel enough cells together the weight will be to much and it will be a huge size
More volts = MORE WATTS for less amps I am swapping to 48 v /52v more for battery range than for speed

would I get hit with taxes buying from them?
It's a lottery, but I certainly recommend buying one of EM3EV's batteries. As a couple of members have mentioned, a BBSHD will kill a battery pretty quickly if you don't get the best cells available. I made that mistake a few years ago with my BBS02 and a less than ideal battery pack.

It's exactly the same except you get a difference in torque and power, which is dead easy to explain. BBS02 is 25A max times 36V = 900W or 48V x 18A = 864W. The BBSHD is 48V x25A = 1200W, but can go up to 52V or 30A so 1440W max.

The BBSHD is heavier, but you don't really notice it when riding.

Yeah but what’s it like up hills etc, will I be astounded by the difference? At the moment on the flat mine will pull about 23-24mph on the flat on throttle, I don’t really do throttle only though, as I prefer to peddle, just an example.

Cheers
