    Battery life in the cold

All very interesting, and scientific points. For me personally, and I didn't really think about this until reading your post, the 'lubricant' bullet point probably contributes to my greatest battery energy loss. I have open gear grease packed around my BBS02 final drive cogs, which has a high...

    Another Battery Question

You won't get any extra performance out of the bigger battery, apart from travelling a few miles further. The benefit from the bigger battery, is the fact that each battery cell will experience less stress, so potentially the battery may deteriorate more slowly.

Help! BBS01 starts pedalling from power on

Any chance of posting a piccy of this 6 pin display cable?

Check that the pins in the throttle connector aren't bent and shorting.

Help! BBS01 starts pedalling from power on

That's not normal. The default on powering up is PAS 1. You say pressing the minus key stops the motor, but disables the PAS. Well that makes sense, coz theoretically you've put it at PAS 0, which is zero assist from the PAS. I can only assume that something is wrong with how the new controller...

Why a Bafang BBSxx programming cable is a worthy investment!

Nothing like dredging up an old thread, but after a few more years of tinkering with Bafang mid drives, has anyone discovered whether the BBSHD can be programmed above 50% start current on PAS?

    Battery 60-80%

Interesting thread, although you probably spend more time testing your batteries, than actually enjoying riding. Tongue in cheek of course :p I'm a firm believer in buying a pack with quality cells and not cheap out in this area. It makes financial sense in the long run, even if a quality pack...

    Battery 60-80%

This is the link to the battery I purchased: https://em3ev.com/shop/em3ev-48v-13s5p-jumbo-shark-ebike-battery/ The blurb about the balancing is in the description, but if you don't fancy scrolling through to find it, here is the specific paragraph reference the BMS: 'We use a high tech, fully...

    Bosch planned obsolescence

If it is simply a case that the spare parts are not available and Bosch aren't willing to release the blueprints for them, then I say shame on them. I can understand that Bosch would prefer owners not to be tinkering with their motors during the warranty period, but what about when that runs...

    Bosch planned obsolescence

Why on earth Bosch made that final drive cog out of plastic/nylon/cheese is beyond me. Forum member's suggestions of 3D printing sounds like a great way to go.

    Climbing Hills with a BBS01

As vfr400 says, you can't change the base motor's max rpm. If your PAS 5 is set at 100% current limit and 100% speed limit, then that's as fast as the motor/chainring's gonna go. You'd probably be happier with a BBS02 or BBSHD, as the base max rpm is higher than the BBS01. You'll have more...

NCM Max Mid Drive , open for tuning?

If there are no owners of the NCM bike on this forum that can give you an answer, you could try posting your question on the Endless Sphere website.

NCM Max Mid Drive , open for tuning?

When you say tuning, there's not much in the way of tuning by accessing the user menu. I would have thought the password accessed menu is still accessable, but you may find that the firmware is locked for use with the programming cable. The cable is where you can go wild with tuning ;) Bafang...

    Battery 60-80%

I think the most important thing with lithium batteries, is not to leave them in such a state of discharge for a long period of time, that the voltage of the cells dips below a recoverable state. A battery pack that is fully charged to 100% and left for long periods of time, may at worst, have...

    Battery 60-80%

Degradation of a battery will be much less noticeable, if it is not used in a power hungry fashion. The majority of EN 15194 bikes are unlikely to drain their battery pack beyond a rate of 1C. Whereas, a bike with a BBS02 or BBSHD fitted, can easily require discharges of 2C-3C from the pack...

    Battery 60-80%

Vfr400 is correct, but be aware some packs balance at less than 100%. It will all depend on the BMS that your battery pack has. Mine balances from 50% plus, so I never need to charge to 100% to activate the balancing feature.
