    Carrera Subway charger

It seems a lot of people have been complaining about that silly/fragile connector on the new Carreras. You might try asking Powatechnic (Sheffield or on ebay), or else you're probably stuck with Halfords, seeing as (I think) this connector is probably unique to them.

Battery - connection simple question ...if you know the answer

Third wire is likely hand-shaking as suggested (to ensure you have the correct charger connected), or else it's likely to be a thermal trip (to shut down the charger if the cells over-heat whilst charging). My own charger uses both.

    Pendleton Somerby Ebike Battery

Apart from ebikebatteries as mentioned as a possible re-celling option, check here to establish which shape/type of Phylion's rear-rack batteries you need (the code you gave doesn't help): http://www.phylion.com/a/chanpinyuyingyong/haiwaidiandongzhulizixingche/2019/1122/286.html It's likely a...

    Carrera Crossfire Battery

I agree with Redcup: We both have the same 2017 GW Cross-bike using the Phylion SF-06 batteries, but "not-smart" BMS versions... but if Redcup's GW Cross battery also worked fine on his Crossfire-e (which is supplied with a "smart" BMS), it should be fine. YosePower are doing them too for a...

    Fazua firmware update

How refreshingly simple. Bosch, Yamaha et al should take a leaf out of Fazua's book!

    wisper strange battery issue!

A 36-volt battery should charge to between 41 and 42 volts when full. Ideally, when the battery is not being used for a week or more, it should really be left at a middling charge; most here suggest around 37/38 volts as being best. Leaving a battery at full charge for a protracted period of...

Ride your e-bike indoors with a Turbo Trainer?

I bought a cheapish £180 Novo Smart Turbo Trainer to use with my unpowered bike last winter... just to get a little exercise when it was too cold/wet/slippery to go out. Now we're mostly all in lock-down, even though we're still allowed to go out and cycle for exercise (at least for now), I'm...

    eco expedition question

I briefly owned a new eco-expedition a couple of years ago. As far as I recall the motor is from Shengyi, and all the parts - both mechanical and electrical - were easily available from other sources.

Tempted by some new emtb's 2020

The next Gen Bosch motors/systems could promise to make that Levo SL drive system approach commonplace for small motor/battery size/weight - probably making all current Bosch Gen systems obsolete anyway as too big, too heavy, too power hungry... Bosch's new 1-billion Euro Silicone Carbide chip...

Peugeot ec 03 200, video help

From the other thread on this forum where you also posted this same video, that OP with the same Peugeot ebike stated it's a Phylion SF-03 battery. Phylion do several rack mount batteries that look fairly similar - ALL are available with either basic BMS (only two pins connected) or smart BMS...

    Inverters and charging your eMTB

You can run many small inverters directly off the cigarette lighter/accessory socket up to 10A/120 watts - sufficient for most ebike chargers. My 400-watt Pure Sine came with two sets of leads to either plug into the accessory socket (120w) or directly to the vehicle battery (400w). It works...

    Inverters and charging your eMTB

I'm not sure how VW rate alternators technically, but a typical T5 starter battery of 70-100Ah charging at 90A would gas very badly. The 14 amps I measured with a Fluke Clamp charging a very depleted but healthy Bosch S5 100Ah in a 2006 VW T5 2.5L TDI. In practice, it really does take 100/14 =...

    Inverters and charging your eMTB

This doesn't read right: The Shimano battery capacity might be 450w (ie 12.5A @ 36v?), but a typical ebike charger only draws 80-100w @ 240v when charging. An 800w inverter should cope easily with that. I use a 400w inverter in my own T5 to charge ebike batteries (both "square wave/modified...

    Raleigh Stow-e-way

The Raleigh Stow-E-Way is/was also sold as the Ebco F-25 (blue) and the Ebco Pulse (silver) with very minor detail changes. It no longer features in Ebco's 2020 catalogue, and all Ebco's older 2019 models lately appear to be discounted to clear. Here's a dealer in Lincoln taking offers for...

    Heads-up! 2019 Ebco centre-drive e-bikes £1099 (£500 off).

I agree, there is some resistance with the M16, but it's minimal. I'd suggest there are no negative reviews to be found about the M16 because it is a budget option, and it performs that role brilliantly. You can't begin to compare the M16 with the Fazua - it's a totally different concept. I too...

    Heads-up! 2019 Ebco centre-drive e-bikes £1099 (£500 off).

The only 3 Halfords Ebco EMTB reviews posted so far all give it 5-stars: nothing mentioned about that! The only road-review Halfords posted gave it 5-stars (it sold out so fast it was only available for about a week). No one else is whinging, are they? And there aren't any other negative...

    Heads-up! 2019 Ebco centre-drive e-bikes £1099 (£500 off).

I'm going to continue to disagree! I followed vfr400's suggestion and popped the chain off to hand turn the cranks. Yes, there is some mild resistance (it's the same in both directions) and not free-spinning as my lightweight non-powered expensive hybrid (I can't compare against my MaxDrive M400...

    Lifespan of ownership

If I make the right choice in the first place, I'll usually keep anything going so long as it A) still does what I want/need it to do and B) is economically viable to repair. I've owned both bikes and cars for as long as 20+ years, and wrong choices (both bikes and cars) that were sold on in as...
