    Hello from Helensburgh!

As sjpt suggests, a sub £2k Cube or Halfords Crossfuse buys you a mid-power crank-drive ebike with a middling 400/500Wh battery... At my un-fit heaviest, I weighed 132kg, and did (still now do, albeit somewhat lighter) a 24 mile loop from home on a hybrid-style e-bike very similar to those...

Hi there! Looking for key cutting advice

Mmmm. There's reference to an alternative key type by AXA-Stenman (not Abus) in my Ebco owners manual. Maybe your key/lock isn't an Abus T82 type after all! AXA-Stenman (who make battery locks for Bosch/Phylion batteries et al) are now here: Try entering your key code and see what happens...

Newbie needs advice on e-bike for heavy person.

I doubt that's really a problem. I weighed more than that when I started e-biking on a standard "nothing special" 700c wheeled hybrid ebike. You just need to be aware you are over the usual 100kg most makers recommend, and take care not to over-stress the motor or bike in general, use the gears...

Hi there! Looking for key cutting advice

Does your key look the same as the one in the image? Both "Abus" and "Amparo" are moulded into the black plastic head. The key number is the 4-digit one stamped into the metal part of the key, not the serial tag that came attached. Maybe your lock just needs a squirt of WD40 since it hasn't...

Hi there! Looking for key cutting advice

This is the correct match both visually and technical profile for my own TranzX battery using a T82 Abus Amparo lock. This is also the supplier TranzX recommend: http://safelocks.co.uk/acatalog/abus-t82-key-cutting-amparo-abus-t82-key-cut-to-code.html#SID=110 Are you sure you have the correct...

    Carrera cross fire

It depends which Carrera Crossfire it is - the older ones use SF-06 batteries with the 5-pin SVD connector; newer ones are different. Powatecnic in Sheffield make 12v-36/42 direct chargers for e-bikes (but these are limited to 1.5A), and also faster 3A 240V chargers with the SVD connector...

Looking for a spare battery for my wife’s Pendleton Somerby e-bike

It depends what the OP is looking for: His wife's Pendleton battery at 8.7A is considerably smaller than his Ebco/TranzX at 11Ah or his son's Crossfire at 11.4Ah, so it stands to reason his wife's e-bike will likely run out of juice before either of the other two. Are you looking to add a...

Corratec LifeS AP5 - looking for opinions

It's not all bad news: Ebco are the main Corratec people in the UK, and are themselves based in your own home county: "We work hard to develop superb e-bikes for our own brand EBCO especially suited for the UK market and also distribute Corratec one of Germany`s leading Technical e-bike brands...

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

I would say not - it would take forever. This Mi is a low-volume high-pressure pump. Air-bed pumps are high volume, low pressure - about £10-£15 on ebay last time I looked.

Looking for a spare battery for my wife’s Pendleton Somerby e-bike

Dave needs to be sure he has the right case profile - Phylion/Joycube make several rear-rack case shapes, capacities, and each with or without smart BMS depending on what the e-bike maker specified. It is Phylion, and does have a smart BMS, but I think Neal's link is the wrong case profile (WALL-E).

The button on the battery you press to show the state of charge: Hold it down for several seconds... it may wake the battery BMS up (it does on my TranzX CAN-bus system - I don't know your A2B so it may or may not). Most smart BMS battery boards go into low power (sleep) mode when not used for...

    non runner

Left field suggestion... That sounds to me as if the BMS has gone to sleep. Try holding down the battery power button for several seconds to see if it wakes up? Or else there may be a break/defect in the handle bar control on/off or connection wire which isn't sending the signal to wake the BMS...

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

There's a nifty little carry bag included with a side-pouch for the USB charge lead and adaptors, one described as a "French Style Moth Head" on the website (no idea why it's called that!). In the English manual that came with the pump, it's shown as a "Presta Valve Adaptor".

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

I think I just used Paypal - Mi products are often cheapest on their own site (I've bought a few items there)… and it's UK stock (which ebay, gearbest etc isn't). I don't know about Amazon though. I carry a Topeak Race Rocket rather than the Mini Morph... trust me, no manual pump is as quick or...

    Help! carrera vengeance e bike

It's possible. The smart BMS in the battery has two functions. A quick button press shows state of charge: SOC is based on voltage; 5 blue LEDS indicates the voltage is >38v (you could check this with a multimeter in the two end slots - a flat/discharged battery will measure <30v). A long button...

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

At just under 1/2kg, I wouldn't carry it with me, but if you like your tyres rock-hard before you set out for a ride, this saves a lot of effort. Pre-settable up to 150psi, Schrader and Presta. Rechargeable li-ion 18650 micro USB. £40. Magic! https://buy.mi.com/uk/item/3194800016

Yes, that looks like the older Phylion SF-06 battery to me; there'll be a label on the underside of the battery.

    Help! carrera vengeance e bike

It depends how old your Vengeance is: If it uses the older Phylion/Joycube SF-06 battery with the 5-pin SVD connector, then yes, it will (should) work (original charger part no. SSLC084V42X or the older JCLC084V42M). Newer Halfords bikes use different batteries with different connectors...

    Replacement Pendleton Li ion battery

You need to look at the rear profile to determine which Joycube/Phylion rack battery it is: The two most common are 1) LEFT an SF-03 which IIRC uses the 5-pin SVD charge connector, and 2) RIGHT is a Wall-E which uses a barrel charge plug. My guess is it's an SF-03, but both often available via...

New Lockdown Rules in Wales .

There is an irony here: Isn't "ill" Boris currently resting at his own Second Home at Chequers in Buckinghamshire, and returning to his main home at Downing Street next week? I'll bet he'll be driving back using his private car too, rather than commuting on a Boris Bus as an "essential worker"...
