    Kalkhoff/sram

I think careful reading of the various sources of information on hub systems does point to longer term reliability of the sram hubs. I wouldnt have the funds to go for an immediate change of hub but i would certainly be patient with my gear changes and get the seals looked at once a year.

shimano hub reliability in the kalkhoffs

An a2b letter reported on use of hubs for all out speed and constant pressure through gear changes leading to 2 hub failures in quick succession. The editor of velovision has also commented on his strong cycling style causing problems with hubs. I think a hub should be valued for its strengths...

    kalkhoff warranty

I agree flecc. But is there anything at all in the notion that the increase in force on the system afforded by the sprocket change could cause problems in the long run? running at 18mph not 15mph is an extra 20%. How did the lafree fair in terms of hub wear if the sprocket was changed for...

    Kalkhoff/sram

Yes nearly all reports put the shimano over the sram hubs in terms of smoothness. Though a fair few of the shimano hubs have failed i am sure by over enthusiastic use, ie: no pauses between gear changes. And there was a seal problem on early versions of the 7 and 8 judging by various reports...

    Tasman

Nice to have a bit of luxury in your life though, even if it is through your bike. i had my one and only accident on a drop bar bike back in the 80's coming down a steep urban hill in the rain to a car that pulled out and stayed in my lane. After the collision he came running up to me (now...

    Kalkhoff/sram

I see from the kalkhoff site that they do use the odd sram hub including the i motion 9gear. I think the sram hubs are known for being easier to connect/disconnect re wheel removal and the latest i motion are simply a lift up and out wire job from behind a sliding cover. If the i motion hub...

    Tasman

In the swirl of agattu/pro connect talk not alot said about the tasman. It shares the current kalkhoff family trait of being equally unobtainable but presumably not ordered by anybody yet on the forum. Whether it does indeed arrive in april or may or june (!) what do you think of the brakes? Are...

    kalkhoff warranty

With most consumer goods for warranty work the goods have to be as purchased, not modified/altered at all. I presume that as 50 cycles are remocing the original sprocket for a size requested by some customers this would not be an issue if a fault occured. what do you think?

shimano hub reliability in the kalkhoffs

all the more frustrating that the nexus 7 is proving unreliable now in such an expensive bike. i wonder how many bikes could be effected by one batch? and would it be reasonable to expect this to be spotted at pdi stage? does anybody know if the pro connect nexus 8 is the premium model.the...

shimano hub reliability in the kalkhoffs

I suppose a brief pdi will not always pick up a problem with hub gears though the owners have been on to it quick enough. I dont know how many owners of the kalkhoff exist on the forum but i have counted 4 duff hubs now. apparently there has been a much increased demand for hubs generally...

    Frame Size

hi font, i agree the size recommended to you would be way too large. i think there must have been some wires crossed to suggest you need a frame of 57cm. these are big bikes on 28 " wheels a 49cm frame would be fine and at a push 53cm. a clear difference between the models is weight, the pro...

    windy weather

thanks for those details citrus. i had pretty much the same commitment to get a kalkhoff for commuting. however, although i ordered i suddenley became classified as "between jobs". i got a refund as i may need that cash for another scooter if i have to travel further. and yes we have had alot...

    windy weather

citrus that is an impressive commute. are you doing that regardless of weather conditions? have you changed the sprocket for slightly higher speed? :)

New to forum, advice gratefully received!

i think battery replacement price does put people off electric bikes as does reliability issues. of course dealing with cars (seperating them from cyclists) and our road network are huge disincentives too for 2 wheel use.

    Am i just unlucky ?

ezee bikes in general using that battery. it is disappointing that such significant investments for bikes such as these are not providing durable transport. i would certainly attempt to get a replacement battery directly from ezee.

    Kalkhoff on youtube

the kalkhoff are still discounted on the website. so you can still order at under the stated full retail value.there has been alot of discussion on this forum about the delays in delivery.basically pay now and take delivery in march/april. i have found the best way to reach 50 cycles is via the...

    It's time for action !!!

burncycle you will probably be right re frame size if you have guaged it from the agattu but when i was looking at buying a dutch bicycle on 28" wheels last year i was advised to go down a frame size. i did test ride the dutch bicycle in question and the advice was right, over the phone i would...
