Regarding racks and mudguards:

You can fit any standard rack because it has the fixing holes near the axle. At the top, it doesn't have the mounting holes, but you can use these instead:

SKS Beavertail XLM mudguards can be fitted to just about any bike, including FS bikes. To me, they look and work much better than those monstrosities. The Rio has the standard rear fixing that they use. For the front one, you can cable-tie it to the fork bridge instead of bolting it. I'be been doing that for the last 5 years. and it gives a rigid durable fixing. Here's a photo. you can just make out the cable-ties on the front:

Regarding the gears:

Cassette gears are generally better quality than free-wheel ones. That applies to the shifters, derailleurs and the cassette itself, so you get nice slick and precise changing. There's also a much bigger choice of ratios and components, so you can get exactly the gearing you want and you have the possibility to upgrade to the very best. I have the same 8 speed DNP rear gears on my bike as the Woosh, which did 4000 miles with no noticeable wear, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Was it you who helped design these bikes and choose the parts or not? I vaguely remember a thread first announcing them.
Woosh, would it be possible if you could measure the inside width of the rims of the FB, or if not, just the outside width and i'll find out which size tyres will fit it.
Unless you know the rim model, I assumed its just some generic chinese rim.

I can measure the outside the white rim, 40mm-42mm edge to edge.
I will have more time tomorrow to check the FB out.

Thanks. Thats only 1.6 inches, so i'm fairly sure a narrower tyre could be fitted, considering the ones on there appear to bulge outwards quite a bit anyway.
Be interesting to hear how the bike performs, i'd imagine the MTB is the more popular option for most people though

Am I right in thinking the fat boy has rigid forks?
Came to the conclusion the Karoo is not going to like the 10 to 15% hills around me
yes, the fat boy has rigid fork.
The Karoo can just about moving a 14st up a 10% hill on throttle alone.
The FB can do that much more easily!

Thought as much. Thanks. Can it do 15%?

What would the typical cruising speed be and genuine battery life of the 13, 15 and 17 battery for someone with road hills to climb. Are these all Samsung batts?

I was aware of the irony of taking a Karoo and adding all the bits onto it that make it very close to where the FB starts.

cruising speed is limited.
Any bike that has a no load limit speed greater than 17mph needs to have a speedometer and an LCD to cut power to the motor when you reach 15.5mph.
All of them have the same cruising speed, on flat roads around 15mph because you hit a bit of treacle when the motor cuts out.
Cruising speed is naturally higher than that when you go downhill.
The genuine battery life is impossible to predict because it depends on how often and regular you recharge the battery. Best to use the bike every day for 25% of the battery and recharge. Another factor is humidity and salt in the air. Overtime, it corrodes the on/off switch and wiring inside the battery. Lastly, there is a bit of randomness. Most of our batteries are 10S5P, 50 cells. You only need one faulty cell to cause trouble. Maximum life: I still get emails from people who own the same bikes for 6 years and the battery is still going.
The 13AH and 15AH are fitted with Samsung cells. The 17.5AH is fitted with Panasonic B cells.

Thanks but nothing stopping me from pedalling faster than those speeds? i.e. ridiculous resistance or gearing of any form, the treacle comment suggests there is.

Is the frame big enough for a 5ft 11 with 31 inch leg, long upper body.

No. The motor just cuts out, you revert back to normal cycling.
The Karoo is especially good at this because it is lightweight and fitted with narrow 700 x 28 C and fast rolling tyres.

He was a bit confrontational and had a bit of a row with some members on here. His account is now closed.

Unfortunate. Is it just the MTB with the extra strong rims or the FB too? Be interesting to hear what you/customers think of the FB with some other pics if you can.
