Is the 17.5 FB in stock (I hear Panasonic cells are the better of the two but have no idea in reality) plus what screen does the bike have as the instructions for the module isn't on the website?

Thanks

if someone purchased the rio with say 13ah bat,and fb with 17.5 bat could the batteries be swopped between the 2
both batteries have physically the same casing, you can swap anytime but commercially, we can't offer to PX the old battery at a good price.

not yet. We should get the 17AH battery next month.
The LCD is the same for the Karoo. The main difference in programming: the Karoo is programmed for modes 0-6, 0 is throttle only. The FB is programmed for 1-5. The thumb throttle is activated by pedal sensor.
I will post the user manual for the FB and for the LCD on the website tomorrow.

I took the FB out for a longish ride. Loved it. I think I am going to use it as my runabout for a while. It rides quietly. Those tyres are just balloon tyres, very different compared to the Juggernaut 26 x 4 on the test FB.
Some more pictures of the FB:

balloon tyres sound like a physics defying product with regard to rolling speeds, what did you manage to do on them? I assume they aren't tubeless so any idea what inners they have?

I really cant decide lol, both look like great bikes but I just need something that could comfortably manage 40ish miles on one charge without draining it within an inch of its life. I'm not overweight or massively unfit and wouldnt ride on the throttle much either. Carrying shopping will be needed to so the FB has the advantage there but wider tyres means not as efficient. Wonder if the bigger motor would zap power more than the MTB too

If they are balloon tyres, from the people I've seen riding with them they are fast and I assume reasonably efficient once the inertia is overcome, hence on an ebike I think they would work.

Yea I suppose any size tyre on an ebike would work. With that rim width though it seems tyre choices are limited to knobbly MTB tyres or even wider FB tyres which aren't ideal for speed and rolling resistance.
Woosh if you do open a tyre up to check the innertubes could you measure inter rim width as this will more accurately tell what size tyres would fit on them.
So it would be the distance on B

Thanks, did I read that the FB is coming in a 20" frame at some point too?

The FB with 26" wheels has 46cm frame (18") as measured from the top of the seat tube to the middle of the bottom bracket.
It's early days, I don't know when we would bring in a larger frame though.

Good shout, t

Hm still not huge choice apparently - https://www.schwalbe.com/gb/reifenmasse.html

Schwalbe have some Big Ben pluses - https://www.schwalbe.com/gb/tour-reader/big-ben-plus.html
Something like this would be a good swap, but not sure if 26x2 would work on the FB rim. You could end up with a square looking tyre with bad grip in corners. However i'm no tyre expert, could work just fine.

Swchalbe have Rocket Ron Plus in 27.5 x 3. I have not seen in 26 x 3 yet.

Here is a picture of the rim:

The Kenda 1016 runs very quiet on 20psi.
I will test it at 10psi and 15psi tomorrow.

I know you can go wider and narrower than the rim itself is but I dont know by how much. Can't find much on it but on this thread a couple people chimed in saying they fit 2.4 tyres on 50mm rims, assuming thats inside width too as thats how they are supposed to be measured.

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/23-tyres-on-50mm-wide-rims
so it seems.
One guy said he runs 2.3" tyre on a 45mm rim which is practically the same as on the FB.
I have some 2.3" tyres in stock. There is no other way than to try them out one of those days I suppose.
By the way, you don't need tyre levers with the Kiniption 26 x 3.
