That's only true if Trump weren't the president. He's so obsessed with the US trade deficit that he has started the tariff war. In order for the Dollar to be used for trade, you have to encourage people to see the dollar is safe. That's not what Trump is doing. He has already upset the G7 countries, including the UK, Canada, Germany, France and the EU. Who is going to stand with the USD as long as Trump is at the WH?
The BRICS have already setup an alternative to the international settlement system with their own digital currency. I can easily ask for quotes and pay in RMB instead of USD.
Expect the BRICS and JAPAN to dump US Treasury bills at record levels.
Trump has threatened to slap tariffs on the EU but there the deficits are the other way around. The EU sells less to the USA than it exports to them.

He is an irrational clown.

Of course the really stupid part of his clowning is that now the dollar has strengthened making it much harder for the US to export its goods - threatening jobs for them and the rising cost of imports will in the end fall onto the people in the US who want to buy imported goods. He will kick up inflation.

US EU trade deficit was $131bn in 2023. Trump wasn't precise but he got the gist of it right. Europeans don't want their inferior foods. Still, if tariff war starts, the damages can be several times the deficits that Trump wants to rectify.

I bet you can't locate any in the uk, nor in sweden, portugal, belgium and austria. Ireland and Spain won't have any by the end of the year. The EU is also phasing out coal fired power stations. They will be all gone in 10 years.

Yes - but in China? The States? India?

A kilowatt hour of coal generated electricity emits over a kilogram of co2 {1.02)
The Uk grid last year on average emitted 125 grams per Kwhr - almost a tenth of the average coal fired station.

Some people are doing a lot of heavy lifting in carbon reduction and some people - some absolutely massive emitters like the US, India and especially China are going on their merry way with coal and building more and more and more coal plant that will be pouring out massive carbon for many decades into the future.

Our combined cycle gas turbines that the eco-loon Miliband wants switched off emit between a quarter and a fifth of the carbon of the average coal station of which China has about three thousand. Methane is already a low carbon fuel. It is mostly hydrogen - one carbon atom tied to four hydrogen ones.

The UK emits 1% of world co2. They are not following our example. This seems to be lost on eco-grannies and Just Stop Oil and all the other campaigners and extremists. WE are not the bad guys in this problem. We are not even there at all.
