So did the COP29 attendees "find a better way" to fly to Azerbaijan? Or did they fly in No EU Carbon Tax, Oil powered, private jets? ;)
if they represent their countries, it is less important which way they fly to Baku than if they don't come. How would you like our representatives to go to Baku?

we now have better ways of harvesting the energy from the sun than pumping oil so why so many people still hang on to oil? Do the MSN like GBNews have too much influence?
Yeah - of course.

In the last two weeks with an installed wind generating capacity of 30.215 Gwatts and an installed solar power generating capacity of 17 Gwatts, so a total of 47 Gwatts of installed carbon free generation we ACTUALLY managed an average of 4.96 Gwatts of power over the period.

All that investment produced about one tenth of what it said on the label.

Yeah - you got me there....

You are completely delusional.

I watched GB news for perhaps five minutes of its entire history.

Would you shut down GB news because it doesn't present the world as you would like? I don't care about GB news. I don't watch it.

You can't defeat the logic of my arguments, you support a badly educated clown who wants to close down the only power generation system that can support the carbon free generation at its frequent times of stress, and rather than come up with anything that might work, you try to associate me with a down market, cr a ppy media organisation that panders to stupid people....

I'd send Miliband there in that Titan submarine that imploded on the sea bed.

that comment about GBNews was aimed at MikelBikel because he quoted them a few times.
I can of course see the weakness of solar generation when the sun doesn't shine. That's not new. Repeating it does not make investment into solar any less promising. Look at places like California and Australia. Do they want to build gas fired and nuclear power stations? The answer is clearly not. They currently add batteries at the rate of knots to deal with known situation like that. Saneagle recently told us that his solar kit only lasted 2 days when the weather is against it. In the very near future, the UK would allow V2G (vehicle to grid) to solve that problem.

Australia make the money for their Greenwashing by exporting their Coal to the East, yes?
And I don't think taking electricity out of people's car batteries will solve anything much, unless one wants to walk, hehe.
"Oh no, it was charged last night, sugar!" :D

Shocking news! The UK is not the same as California and Australia. Key stage 2 geography course required.

I have no problem at all with installing cost effective carbon free generation as long as it is cost effective and doesn't drive our industry into bankruptcy. I am delighted to see the days when wind farms are generating 20 Gwatts of power. I look up at least once a day how they are doing. It is great when they can step in and do the job, as long as the price is right and we do not lose all our heavy industry to China through utter stupidity like shutting down our ability to make virgin steel - which you ought to know is the ONLY source of high quality specialist steels needed in many industries. You can't make jet engines out of scrap steel. You ought to know that because you have suggested you have an engineering background (though I can't marry that with some of the ideas you put forward.

It is ESSENTIAL that we ensure solid supply. You keep on talking about batteries, but do not engage with the fact that the sheer quantity of capacity lost during the last fortnight's locked in high pressure system, would require impossible amounts of battery capacity.

In the last fortnight we were forced to generate 50.6% of all of our power by gas. That amounts to half our 30Gwatt average consumption - so 15 Gwatts. Calculate the number of hours in a fortnight - 336 hours. Now multiply that by the gas contribution - 15Gwatts and we would need battery capacity of 5 Twhrs of battery capacity to get us through the last two weeks....

Good luck with that Woosh.

The last fortnight we would have needed 5000 Gwatt hours of car battery capacity to replace gas with batteries.

Made with the new solid state Sulphite batteries? 500WH/kg, that will be 10,000 tonnes.
It will take time to achieve net zero, give it about one generation for us to get there.
Looking back, how long ago did you start building your retirement plan?
Take nuclear as an example, if you can have a very small reactor with a few hundred grams of TRISO pebbles in your house, you won't have to worry about hot water, heating or even power cut.

  1. A fact is information minus emotion.
  2. An opinion is information plus experience.
  3. Ignorance is an opinion lacking information.
  4. And, stupidity is an opinion which ignores a fact.

None of that matters. What does matter is the conclusions.

Example: The following facts are connected and relate to a single incident.
Fact: A man went into a shop with a gun
Fact: The robber demanded money from the shopkeeper
Fact: A man was seen running away with the money.

Which conclusion is true?
1. The robber was a man.
2. The robber stole some money.
3. There were witnesses to a robbery.
4. Shops have money that can be stolen
5. This event would be recorded in the crime database as a violent crime.

Ed should repay the UK the millions paid for a worthless, dependent Propaganda company.
busted by what? or who? Patrick Christys? How much do you believe that guy?
He's an entertainer, according to someone who knows him well, Andrew Neil.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusion, but that does not have any bearing on what Carl Sagan said. We still don't know if the robber has got an accomplice, does the authority know how much money is missing and if that tallies with the money recovered from the robber.

Where do you buy those batteries. Can you send me a shopping link....?

Ah - Ok - they are scifi, speculative concepts at the moment like much of Miliband's plan. Never mind. Outlaw the use of gas and invent some wonder product that no body can actually make to take the load of half of the UK grid for a fortnight.

In the future, I speculate that this period will be taught in schools when children are learning about how the Uk was taken back to the Dark Ages by mad leaders - a bit like how people learn about Chairman Mao and Pol Pot taking their countries into abject disaster, or Stalin's plans to collectivise farming which brought mass starvation.

CATL made those batteries only for OEMs at the moment. Just google CATL solid state batteries.
I got that news from Sam Evans YT channel. Basically, CATL have about 1000 staff working on these batteries for some time. They expect putting them in EVs in about 3-5 years. Until then, we have NCM (Lithium-ion) + silicon batteries. You get about 350WH/kg with NCM.
We live in an era of rapid science advancements. New information comes out all the time for solid state batteries. I keep following the news.
