there is only one reality, we live it, share it. Why do you want to question it? Your reply reminds me of the invention of the number i, the imaginary number. Does physics need the number i to explain the world around us? For the majority of us, no.
No - I think he is right to question everything, including why he prefers unregulated, non-professional sources of information to what some people call, 'the mainstream media', or anything coming out of a research institute or university research department.
In America especially, among many of the Trump persuasion, they regard that term as unsavoury a thing as being thoroughly dishonest. They actually hate people who have an education, and know anything, as opposed to just spouting conspiracy theory and home spun memes. They think that these kinds of people are out to trick them. They believe that Bill Gates funded vaccines containing nano sized microchips to take over their brains or track them or something. Tell them anything different and they get hostile and claim that you are part of the conspiracy.
The sites where this stuff proliferates often host adverts for medical cures trying to tempt those who know no better, with slogans such as, 'The secret that your dermatologist doesn't want you to know.' You can substitute dermatologists with any number of other medical specialities. The slogan implying that your 'dermatologist is a fraud, will be followed by some cranky home spun cure. They are also dead set against getting vaccinated. I saw one advocating curing skin cancer by rubbing some noxious weed onto the lesion that burned into the skin, supposedly curing melanoma..... Good luck with that, but anyway - far better than going to someone who is one of those dodgy dermatologists, isn't it? Experts? Knowledge? Science? Who needs them?
