You are probably only ever going to have problems with insurance(cover or payout) with self conversions rather than bought complete with a CE mark.

And the outcome of the council's meeting on the 6th November was what?

From reading the second article the ban is only on e scooters and e bikes - not analogue cycles.
E scooters are illegal anyway, so why the need for a ban? If I ride my bike with the power turned off is it not just a bike? Isn't that kind of the point of an eapc?
Just a usual knee jerk fudge and confusuion, I predict many fun and games on this one. Not least claims of discrimination.

Cllr Jim O'Boyle said the council "should not tolerate any dangerous riding or driving of any vehicle of any sort in and around pedestrian areas or our public highway".

This is very true. Maybe Mr O'Boyle should be taken on a cycle tour of Coventry's race track ring road

Will this stop irresponsible idiots? Of course not, 'cos they're inconsiderate and above or beyond the law. When will there be the first 'bike chase' injury reported?

THIS is why the WHOLE law on ALL "E" bikes will change, not if, when, because of scum

That is why not if the whole e bike law will change.
The e-bike law will not change, since unregistered and non type approved e-bikes are already illegal and have always been.

The only problem is that the law is not being enforced.

Current law for the use of such offending machines allows for fines, even imprisonment, plus confiscation of the machine for every such offence.

The legal machines we in here currently use are not e-bikes (electric bikes). They are Electric Assist Bikes only, complying to current legal exemptions, not laws, hence no independently acting throttles being allowed and there being no law to alter.

At least the press (and presumably the police) are being very clear about the term e-motorbike.
In so many reports the generic e-bike term has been used.
A (small) step forwards in clarifying public perception.

I noticed that too. It seemed a bit unusual, so got my spider senses going a bit.

Actually the heading taken from a press page is grammatically 100% wrong, incorrect.

Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

It should read crackdown on ILLEGAL E bikes in Coventry

Or it reads that the Police crackdown itself is illegal

Indeed, good that the BBC make the UK public aware of the difference.

The same article was on the main BBC (UK) News tonight, well done, made the point, but you then you would expect that from the BBC.

The dash cam saved that driver. It would be very difficult to avoid prosecution without it. That reminds me of the deer that jump fences straight onto the road in front of vehicles. They just come from nowhere.
