Snap election is always a stop loss strategy. Gordon brown could have used it in pretty similar situation.
Brown created working tax credit, yet another way to subsidise businesses at the expense of the taxpayer. This trend toward socialism for business and the wealthy must end! Of course Truss will provide handouts, rather than fix the energy price problem by nationtionaling energy companies; a highly unConsevative step. Given time, globalisation will result in a world which looks the same everywhere - low taxes, poor public services and a mega wealthy class who own and control everything.

Lol, I was expecting this, the return of the king...

It would be very interesting to see a cabinet which was either:

Full of people who had resigned from his cabinet.
Empty of anyone who had resigned from his cabinet.

Both possibilities seem to undermine the possibility. :)

Also, my personal suspicion, he will find sufficient financial interest outside government to not want to become PM again. I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave parliament for money.

Anything could happen during the Tory death spasm, the main beneficiaries would be the Lib Dems... leading to a hung parliament and coalition again. (Stating the bleeding obvious) Labour won't have the numbers to win outright, even after this, not without Scotland.

I wonder what's worse? Tainted by the failed old administration, or tainted by the new doomed one? They're running out of untainted.

@oldgroaner - I really want to see a ruggedised offroad electric Peel P50 4X4. I'd buy one.

Brewexit benefits part the nth:

Kent brewery hailed as Brexit ‘export champion’ has one EU customer left
The Old Dairy Brewery, named in a government video, has seen sales slump because of excessive paperwork

I assume (possibly incorrectly) that they agreed to take part in the government video. In which case, I have to ask, "Why?"

Whilst it is clearly tiny to small to medium companies that are most affected, it does have impacts right up the chain. You might export multi-million products but when there is a spare part that needs to be sent, it seems to me that accretes a similar level of paperwork.

I imagine we are back to the situation in which the simplest and fastest way of getting small items to EU countries is likely someone carrying it in their suitcases/bags as personal effects and not declaring the item.

There is also the me micro that will outaccelerate a twizy,
My Haibike pulling a rickshaw with two fat ladies aboard would do that.
Twizzy is amongst most useless cars I have ever had displeasure to drive.
Agreed re MG4... Looks great for price. Slightly odd tho that the lower capacity battery version is a bit quicker than its counterpart bigger batteryied version. Thinking of visiting our MG dealer to try one. (there is a mega fast version arriving very soon too, Evo were raving about pre launch version they tried, reckoned it was one of very few mass market ecars capable of hooliganism oversteer..??? (not my cup of tea anymore but proves chassis/suspension must be pretty well designed)

There is also the me micro (that does 48mph, outaccelerate a twizy, has aircon, heating and electric windows and a 10 kwh battery that gives an official 90 miles for £11k). But it is an idiosyncratic choice as you describe (I fancy an mg4 despite youtube videos about mg's and corrosion)
The Me Micro as described would be ideal for me, but will we ever see it?

Ignoring some degree of exaggeration in their promotion, it looks increasingly unlikely at £12,000 with today's inflation. Ready, demonstrated and independently road tested in 2019, there's still no sign of it being on sale well over three years later, with Siticars just saying they are still working on bringing it to the market.

It's long been almost impossible to offer proper small cars cheaply, especially battery electric ones. That's why GM gave away Vauxhall and Opel. That's why Ford have also been seriously considering pulling out of Europe. And it's why so many of the other manufacturers have given up trying, now with their newer e-car models starting prices from £35k and mostly much more.

The Me Micro with all the spec listed looks increasingly improbable at £12,000 even if sold online, so I wouldn't be surprised if it vanished without trace.

No - the main beneficiaries will be the rich - as always:

It is fair to prioritise tax cuts that benefit the highest earners 250 times more than the poorest, Liz Truss has said, insisting it is wrong to view all economic policy through the “lens of redistribution”.

Insane inflation

You'll remember WeBuyAnyCar offered me £14,000 back in 2021 for my 3.5 year old Leaf, yet at 4.5 years old a short while ago this year upped that to £19,000. Wanting to know if that price was holding I checked again on Friday and found they'd upped it again to £21,755

Over 50% increase since 2021, that is getting close to the price I paid for it new in 2018 !!

A conversion of any vehicle you want is possible. I've seen easy to fit convesrion kits, but they're only available to garages. Electric Peel P50 with uprated suspension?
I have an old berkeley se328 and can't imagine fitting a modular kit would be much harder than building an ebike (it's chain driven, weighs 270kg). But it has the physical integrity of an inexpensive bathtub, hitting a pedestrian at 30mph could be lethal.

Well if I was faced with taking on a job equivalent to being the gunner on a Russian T72 for Putin in Ukraine, this is probably a number one option I would choose.
I'd vonskaya into the t72 (with its fake rubber armour). Were about to see a historic political implosion that will write truss into history.

Wow that's light - six bbs01bs (480nm) could fit in the ergine bay, driving the same drive shaft and chain, operated by one throttle? Will run a little slow, and you'd need to regrease every 4,000km, change bearings every 5,000km, the controllers will blow up every so often, and the nylon gears will wear out etc. etc. etc. Or 15 hub drives (675nm) would need less servicing less frequently.

Or get actual professionals to do a proper job:

That's an excelsior talisman alright (and rubbish it is, 13bhp from a 328cc 2 stroke twin gasping to a max 55mph). Back in the halcyon days of ebiking ( before the woke tories and actual 15.5 mph limit) I built a 4kw (max) bmsbattery hub motor kit ( with hobbyking lipos) cheaply. It would certainly propel a Peel 50

Is yours a car crying out for a Hayabusa engine? With that bodyweight/power ratio, it could outperform supercars on the straight flats...

I expect riots will be brewing. I'm shocked they haven't really happened yet. There's a holdup in a queue somewhere, we're British after all.

I remember sitting in one. In the event of a collision with anything more lethal than the average wheeled holiday suitcase it had about as much crash resistance as a big girl's blouse.
(Not that I have anything against big girl's blouses on principle you understand)

Big airbags which deploy externally to form a protective sphere is the only way to make that safe in a crash at 50mph, which would result in a game of motorway pinball, or catch the bouncing P50. I wouldn't want to be sitting in that! Even the much larger old minis were terrifying to occupy on the motorway.
